A bipartisan group of senators appears to be on the verge of clinching a deal on immigration, signaling an agreement could be released as soon as Thursday.
"We've got this bipartisan group. We are at a deal. ... It's the only game in town," Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told reporters.
Asked what was the biggest remaining hurdle, Flake pointed to a border security package "and what's sufficient. That's what we're working on but we've pretty much got a bill."
A spokesman for Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) immediately downplayed Flake's comments, noting the group of senators were close but did yet have an agreement.
"We are extremely close to a strong bipartisan deal to help dreamers. However, nothing is final yet and there is no legislative text to share yet," the spokesman said.
The group of senators which also includes Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) have been negotiating for months on a deal that would include a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Their agreement is expected to include legalization for DACA recipients and a border security package, as well as deal with changes to the State Department's diversity visa lottery program and family-based immigration

“Bipartisan” = 49 Rats + the 2 Usual Suspects
FGS stop panicking.
Five people making an agreement doesn’t equal a signed Bill.
Yeh look who they are. Its like the gang of eight all over again. A basket of despicables!
I’m not as smart as many here, so I don’t get this taken the bait comment people are saying.
What bait?
BS
Trump is a master at giving the Dems enough rope to tie themselves up in....while he holds on to the other end of the rope.
Yes, it sounds awful. Specially in light of Trump saying he would sign anything those in that room came up with. I dont think there was a single conservative in that room.
Donald is pulling a Reagan. Soon every state will be Mexifornia.
We escaped Mexifornia two years ago, just pulling up stakes and leaving. No jobs, and not knowing a single person in Tennessee, except we knew that there were conservatives and Americans here. Its the best decision we ever made! Things in the invaded state became unbearable.
I would hate this area to be invaded and ruined as well. There would be no where else for us to escape to.
Ah, so 5 Democrats.
The Uniparty sure has this game rigged.
Thanks. Again I’m dense, but that does not help me understand what bait was tossed out there by Trump that was taken.
I hope you are right, but I admit to having butterflies in my stomach. The survival of our nation is at stake. We have escaped an invaded state once, there wont be another left if amnesty is passed. The illegals are already brazen, confusing to learn English refusing to assimilate and hating the United States. They would be even more emboldened if Trump even lets them stay. I want a wall and deportations. Thats what I voted for! Nothing less
wow - gonna have to swipe that one

That doesn't even sound like they are up to five people, unless Flake counts as five multiple personalities.
I think he knows that. Something is going on at a higher level
BOHICA. It is going to be 2006 all over again.
ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING involving that a-hole Flake you just know it’s gonna be a disaster
It's possible that Trump foresaw all this and is counting on Flake and Graham to enrage conservatives.
