War with North Korea Inevitable
American Thinker ^ | January 10, 2018 | Robert Arvay

Posted on 01/10/2018 12:09:29 PM PST by detective

In 1969, I was a U.S. Army soldier on foot patrol on the banks of the Im Jin River, just a rifle shot from North Korea.  Although the war in Vietnam was raging at the time, getting all the headlines, there were Americans being killed along the supposedly demilitarized zone between the Koreas.  Despite the armistice, North Korea was, in fact, in an official state of war with the United States and remains so to this day.

Little has changed since, except for the worse.  We are on a collision course toward a major war, and nothing short of a miracle will avert it.

How else to rid the world of a nuclear equipped North Korea? The world is not united to totally isolate that country or its dictator. The Chinese have time and time again, along with Russia have blocked any attempt to marginalize the threat.. Strategically launched weapons against actual and suspected nuclear sites may be the only play, in the near future. Anyone else have ideas?

Suddenly Un is warming up to neighbors: resuming high-level talks, participating in the Olympics, trash-talking Trump, etc.

A miracle might be under way.

I don’t see war with NK as inevitable. As long as the status quo is maintained in NK, the Generals will not revolt against Dear Leader. And the status quo does not include nuking the USA, as the author states.

North Korea’s overtures to South Korea are an attempt to buy additional time to build nukes. I hope Trump doesn’t follow the example of his predecessors and condemn us to live under the threat of noko nukes.

The pressure is on, sure he’s struggling to buy time but at some point he’s gonna run out of it. End energy importation there and the regime will collapse - alas, along with the rest of the long-suffering population.

The big difference is that Japan thought the attack would lead to the US negotiating from a weaker position. Kim is crazy, but he’s not stupid. Doing a “nuke a city” would sign his, and his minions, death warrants. They are not Japan, and we are not the US of 1941.

NK is an ankle biter that best be kept aware of that fact.

Same tactic, different means - just the old stall for time while weapons development proceeds apace routine the Kim family has used so effectively on the peace in our time crowd.

War is never over until one side is beaten militarily by resounding margins.

McArthur was surrounded by patsies that were unwilling to give him the real poop. He was ok with that because he didn’t want to hear anything that would dissuade from his firmly held belief that Chang Kai Shek was China and had an army of 500,00 warriors.

Douglas ended up a colossal failure as a military commander.

I really loathe the War cry’s from these folks.

South Korea’s PM credits President Trump for getting Ill Kim to open communication with them.

I agree. I find this thesis unconvincing, NK leaders may be violent and sociopathic but that does not make them candidates for suicide.

Agreed. I’ve been hoping that the ChiComs have been contacting the NORK generals and discussing their options. So far, Un is still alive.

that’s just it,
status quo is not maintaining.
Crippling sanctions are stating to harm the high and mighty there as well as the military.
