Washington (CNN) The day after Oprah Winfrey delivered a speech that thrust her into the conversation about the 2020 presidential race, Democratic strategists and activists largely agree: It's not crazy. And she could win.
First, though, Winfrey would have to answer huge questions. Among them: Where does she stand on the issues? Is she willing to sacrifice her personal popularity and face scrutiny over how her business empire has operated?
The television star and self-made billionaire addressed the "#MeToo" moment and promised that "a new day is on the horizon" during a Golden Globes award acceptance speech Sunday night. The speech struck a chord, drawing comparisons to then-Illinois state senator Barack Obama's 2004 Democratic National Convention speech, which launched him toward the presidency four years later.
Sunday night, when her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, was asked by a Los Angeles Times reporter about Winfrey running in 2020, he said she "would absolutely do it." On Monday, two Winfrey friends told CNN she is "actively thinking" about a run for president. (snip)
Several Democratic strategists argued that Winfrey is one of the few people on Earth who could pull the focus of national media away from Trump in the heat of a presidential campaign -- or "out-Trump Trump," as one put it. Others cast Winfrey as an antidote of sorts to Trump's brand of politics.
"I slept on it and came to the conclusion that the Oprah thing isn't that crazy," tweeted Dan Pfeiffer, a longtime top aide to former President Barack Obama. "I don't know if Oprah would be a good president, but she would definitely be a better president than Trump."
"Oprah is really everything that Trump pretends to be -- successful, self-made, generous, charitable, beloved and the list goes on," said Democratic strategist Jesse Ferguson.

That sound you hear is Karamela Harris kicking in her tv set...

And all it will serve to do is radicalize the Amish into utter & complete disgronification over the eventual #2020 Democrat-primary-so-white/top-of-the-slag-heap candidate Slow Joe...

I’m really not interested in a racist black woman who wants dead white people.
Pass.
Being part of Rev. Wright’s congregation didn’t hurt Obama one bit.
Excellent reminder.
Excellent reminder.
OPRAH HURTS CHILDREN
If Oprah seriously makes overtures at running for President, they will present her with a thick file of their findings and tell her that it will remain private as long as she changes her mind about running.
Obama was being talked about as a possible POTUS candidate after he made "the speech" at the DNC. I laughed at the idea of a black guy with a Muslim-sounding name being elected POTUS in a post-9/11 world. We know how that worked out.
I hope that this time is different. Oprah's speech wasn't even political and seemed to deal only with feminism and racism. I hope she would not get 80% of the women's vote. Mario Cuomo was supposed to go far after he made "the speech" at the DNC in 1984. The 'rats love to nominate people who make one great speech or who come off as "Kennedyesque".
Imagine Oprah vs Trump in 2020. We had lyin ted, little marco, low energy jeb, crooked hillary etc. Any idea what he might name Opra? Fatty Oprah, plastic surgery oprah, all talk oprah???? The potential name list would be long
Oprah can kick off her campaign by releasing her tax returns for the last 10 years.
Outing “O”
Oppie will not run because she will not take a cut in pay and have to divest her interest , or risk losing which could damage her ego and popularity . She was tight with Hillary and Bill , Harvey Weinstein and attended Rev. Wright’s anti-white church for 10 tears . I could go on but you get the picture . She has many negatives in her past .
But she does like the current hype .
“First, though, Winfrey would have to answer huge questions. Among them: Where does she stand on the issues? “
Pshaw, a trivial detail. They are all communists anyway.
Don't forget about Gayle...
