FALMOUTH MA (AP) - Police say a father stabbed his family
(Excerpt) Read more at boston.com ...
Pit bulls are not as bad as Lions or Tigers, but they are definitely a greater risk than pretty much any other dog breed. The reason is simple, when they do go round the bend, they do a lot of damage.
How unusual. His gun was empty?
Pit bulls - the islamist dog breed. They’re all perfectly fine, loving and no threat.....right up until they attack.
The pedigree of peace!
Pit again...I’m a dog lover but I do not trust pits.
Lucky it was a good pit bull with no history of aggression.
If it were a bad pit bull, something awful might have happened.
Predictable.
Dog ping.
This terrible story happened close to where I live. It hit home as lately while walking my dog in the woods Ive run across a women in her 60s walking two pit bulls. I live next to a 600 acre nature preserve. Its a perfect place to take your dog.
She has one on a leash and a muzzle, the other runs free. She can barely control the one on the leash. The one that runs free appears friendly and is always very excited to see people and other dogs. My dog plays with the unleashed one for a few minutes, while the woman basically with all her strength holds the other dog back.
I try and leave after a few minutes. Im friendly to the women and always tell her to be careful. What she doesnt know is that Im armed (9mm Glock). Im very worried that someday I may have to shoot one of her dogs. It certainly ruins my walk when I encounter her.
Or, I will hear about this woman being killed by her dogs. Neither scenario will surprise me. For the record, Im walking my German Shepherd mix and hes not always on a leash. He is very well trained and heals to me whenever we see another person or dog. I then attach his leash. Hed be no match for these dogs. They both outweigh him by at least 20 pounds.
You’d want to be at point-blank range, or might shoot the child.
So might as well knife him - which is much more lethal when plunged in well.
Exactly.
I remember here on FR over ten years ago there was a huge constituent of “but pit bulls are good dogs, it’s irresponsible owners” folks that would come to their defense. And I actually believed them.
Evidence shows where the real problem is. It is with the breed. This sort of thing is rare, but it is FAR rarer with all other breeds.
I’ve also found an interesting involuntary psychological reaction I have when someone I respect tells me they own a pit-bull. My respect changes as if they told me they occasionally do recreational meth. I just see them differently.
He got what he chose. He brought an infamously violent, dangerous, aggressive breed into his home instead of ANY other breed. It did what it was bred to do. Now that baby has no face and HE should be charged with every child endangerment offense allowed under the law.
I’m with you.
I don’t care what apologists say; it’s exactly like Moslems (except Moslems choose to be what they are).
Why are we surprised when they go off? Either PBTs or Moslems?
All dogs must be closely watched near children that young.
Maybe the infants still have a fresh hamburger scent, I don’t know. Some dogs become inordinately excited when near.
Anyone who has a pit bull in the same house as a one-year old is an idiot.
Why keep an animal around that can easily outrun you, knock you down and very efficiently tear the meat from your bones and whose breed was created for fighting?
There are a great many Pit-Bull lovers out there that will always say, “It’s not the dog, its the owner”. But it is an animal, none the less.
All dogs are descendants of the wolf. Humans bred and domesticated the animals based on certain traits. Eventually they bred dogs with similar “defects” and behavioral traits. Why? Because those behaviors were noted to be inherent or instinctual and passed down genetically to offspring. Most breeds have distinctive instinctive behaviors that are sought after. Whether it be for hunting, tracking, guarding, service, herding, etc., everyone recognizes that breeds behave differently. Can traits be trained out of dogs, sure. Does the instinct go away. NO.
Ok then, what behavioral instincts are bred into a Pit Bull? Instinctively they are aggressive and vicious when they attack. Physically, they are very strong. They were bred intentionally for these traits. All dogs are pack animals. Most will instinctively “protect” the pack from threats. BUT most will also instinctively challenge their pack members to establish dominance in the hierarchy of the pack. This is done in different ways for different breeds. Some dogs hump members of their pack. Some dogs steel possessions to show their dominance. Some dogs actually attack other members of the pack to show their dominance.
Pit Bulls are dangerous, because they were bred to be dangerous, regardless of how well they are trained.
This in a state that forces him to keep gun safe — unloaded !!
Pit Bulls are the breed of choice for life’s losers. On the wrong side of the socio-economic scale? Never set foot in a college? Less than a full set of teeth?
No problem - get a “Danger Dog” and your status is restored!
Ghetto gang bangers and white trailer trash need the Pit Bull. Normal folks, not so much.
