Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz sounded off on claims the 25th Amendment should be used to remove President Trump over his mental capacity.
Dershowitz, a Democrat who supported Hillary Clinton, said calls for removal are "very dangerous."
"There’s only one thing worse than trying to criminalize political differences and that’s trying to psychiatrize them," he said. "These psychiatrists who are trying to diagnose without having even met the man. That’s what they did in Russia."

That’s indeed what they did in the Soviet Union. If you didn’t support the communist party you were declared mentally ill and sent to a mental institution. Only it wasn’t really a mental institution, and the doctors weren’t really doctors.

And I bet you think psychiatrists are scientists? Would it be a shock to find out they are not and psychiatry is all about promoting someone’d idea or even his or her own over everyone else’s idea? There is little or no fact behind psychiatrists and their opinions.
And I bet you think it is just fine for someone who is self aggrandizing like psychiatrists to point fingers at someone they have never sat down and discussed anything and decide based on that meeting or hearsay from other sources the mental competancy of that person?

I think Mr. Dershowitz may be one of the few remaining principled leftists in this country. I seldom agree with him, but he tends to be fair-minded and is seldom, if ever, unhinged.
Dershowitz is referring to Democrats’ recent attempts to criminalize political differences in order to remove President Trump from office, a practice that he has consistently and loudly opposed since the election. That tactic has failed and now the Democrats (and NeverTrump RINOs) have shifted to the “25th Amendment” tactic by questioning President Trump’s sanity. Once again, Dershowitz is standing for principle and the rule of law. Why would any honest person condemn Dershowitz for this?
I, for one, am grateful that A.D. is speaking out. He’s a left-wing lawyer and was an esteemed professor at a far left leaning university. And he never fails to say he is a Hillary supporter abd voted for her.
He may be one of the few people the libs will listen to. If he’s telling the facts based on the Constitution — and, so far, he has been — how can that hurt?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors, so, by that definition, they are, indeed, scientists. Like most, there are good ones and bad ones. The good ones are gold, the bad ones poison.
Exactly. Dershowitz is simply warning the rest of his comrades that it is too early in the process to begin using re-education camps.

I find Dershowitz to be somewhat of a puzzle...
I hear him say things that make me sit up and conclude there are sane leftists left in this country. (The last sane one I remember was Zell Miller...)
But I agree with you WayneS, Dershowitz still says things that make him seem like a split personality to me.
Pat Caddell is a person whom I would consider a sane leftist.
I fully admit to simply tuning a lot of them out now...but I will check him out.
