Yale psychiatry professor Bandy Lee has been raising concerns about President Trumps mental health for over a year and suggested in a new interview that Trump should be physically contained for an urgent evaluation to determine his mental state.
In a Vox interview published Saturday, reporter Eliza Barclay asks Lee, Okay, so youre calling for an evaluation; youre serious about that. How could he possibly be evaluated, since it seems like he wouldnt voluntarily do it?
Lee responded, We encounter this often in mental health. Those who most require an evaluation are the least likely to submit to one. That is the reason why in all 50 states we have not only the legal authority, but often the legal obligation, to contain someone even against their will when its an emergency. So in an emergency, neither consent nor confidentiality requirements hold. Safety comes first. What we do in the case of danger is we contain the person, we remove them from access to weapons, and we do an urgent evaluation.

Sorry honey you and your authoritarian friends haven’t take over yet.
In order to be sued for malpractice, a lawyer has to be able to visualize some monetary gain. No (chance of a ) gain, no case.
State boards are different. If you write a letter to my board complaining that I am projecting thoughts into your head, they will, at a minimum, demand an explanation from me. (In such a frivolous example, I'm sure a single page letter from me would suffice).
But this is no frivolous matter. Proceeding a dangerousness evaluation, there must be a tentative diagnosis.Diagnosis follows from history, exam, and testing. No exceptions. Diagnosis without its predicates is at the diagnostician's risk, and the consequences of failure can be quite severe.
This perseveration by Dr. Lee is, at a minimum, prima facie unprofessional conduct, and it may be more than that.
According to the Connecticut State Department of Public Health license verification website, there is no "Bandy Lee" licensed as a physician in Connecticut. "Bandy X. Lee" is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. She is listed as "voluntary faculty", which means she is not an employee and contributes time for no compensation. I don't know the Yale system, but in general this time could be one lecture a year or it could be two clinics a week. The link to her name says she practices in New Haven and is accepting new patients.
However, the Yale website also says she has a Master of Divinity degree and studied anthropology at NIMH, and that her appointment is in the "Law and Psychiatry Division", so it is possible that she is not practicing medicine and therefore would not need a license.
In any event, this behavior (she has a book coming out called "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump") crosses all sorts of lines familiar to any third-year medical student, and if it has not already been brought to the attention of the Connecticut Medical Examining Board, it should be.

If you chose to inquire about this, please do not harass the Board with political opinions. This is a simple, factual matter of whether or not Dr. Lee has performed the necessary evaluation to allow her to express certain MEDICAL opinions. Of course, her POLITICAL opinions are her own business and as such are not likely to have any interest to the Board.
She may not have a license. No hits on the CT DPH verification website.
Dr. Bandy Lee needs an evaluation - by the American Psychiatric Association for probable violation of professional ethical standards......
It appears that she is licensed in New York.
Trump is accomplishing more than most other presidents, cranking on all cylinders over long hours.
He has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it. He doesn’t second-guess himself, and he gets right to the point instead of deferring or beating around the bush.
This is taken by some low producers, to be unusual, possibly a sign, no make that a clear sign of mental problems.
He’s a high achiever. Who knew?
Physician, heal yourself.
So the “doctor” used remote jurisdiction
from NY, to enable her to practice psychiatry
in Connecticut where she is NOT licensed
to examine a patient in another state
using her remote viewing “powers”.
Wonder how much she has been paid
by the DNC and GS?
It’s nice to have a target with the name.
Her middle name is Legs.
The Commies want to “contain” ALL of the Deplorables, and WILL try to do it, if/when next they regain power. It’s going to come down to “Contain” or “Be Contained”.
I don’t think she does much clinical work.
She’s listed on staff at the Mt. Sinai-BI Petrie campus downtown in Manhattan, if she has a clinic, it’s probably there and the “accepting new patients” on the Yale Psychiatry website is probably a mistake.
If she’s making ROUNDS at Yale (except at the West Haven VA), then she would need a Connecticut license, as she would if she is billing any Federal Health Programs from a Connecticut location, again, except the VA which allows practice in any state with any other state’s license.
APA calls what this idiot liberal is doing a violation of professional ethics. No therapist is allowed under ethics to violate the Goldwater rule which prohibits diagnosing someone you have not had direct contact and analysis.
"Dr. Oz" was vice-chairman of Surgery at P&S until the embarrassment grew too great, but I don't think he did much if any surgery there.
She only missed by one (44 vs 45).
It is what it appears to be. She plotted and orchestrated the move for a long time. It shows in her Twitter account, even using terms and phrases such as “code red” for timing, etc. Her effort is mainly against the Second Amendment and might involve foreign interests.
I’ve been browsing various professional websites with information regarding Dr. Lee.
If one were interested, and had the time, there’s a lot of info out there.
This Professor of Psychiatry is suffering from delusions of grandeur on steroids.
Is that “professor” aware that liberalism is a mental disease, and that he should self-diagnose and check himself in to a mental institution? Yeah, ok, he works at a mental institution, but still.. let’s get him to one that’s not called Yale.
