Remember the harmonic convergence? It was the alignment of the planets that took place in 1987 some said was going to bring about major changes in the world. And then there was Y2K, when people hoarded canned goods and caused at least one person to take a homemade concoction that turned his skin permanently blue. Those were stupid times. But they have nothing on today.
What a clown show weve become. The year is a week old today and already dumb enough to make me yearn for 2017.
The big story this week was a book written by a guy known for exaggerating about a guy known for exaggerating with the main source being another guy known for exaggerating. And Im not exaggerating.
I have no idea whats true and whats not true in the new book Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House, and neither does anyone on cable television repeating its claims like they were a personal witness to the events described in it. But neither does the author, it seems.
In the books prologue he wrote, Sometimes I have let the players offer their versions, in turn allowing the reader to judge them. In other instances I have, through a consistency in the accounts and through sources I have come to trust, settled on a version of events I believe to be true.
Why not, indeed. Facts dont matter anymore, and neither does reality. Illegal immigrant is now undocumented worker or, sometimes, even something as insane as resident. If a common legal term, used by governments for decades, can be deemed a slur and hate crime. When a New York Times editor cautions other journalists against using the term chain migration to insert more liberal spin into a debate over an issue which theyd already redefined the language, what chance does anything else stand?
There are people disputing things attributed to them in the book, like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, but none of this has slowed the orgy of media love showered on its author Michael Wolff.
And thats just one example, there are countless others. None of which seemed to bother the media because, as MSNBCs Stephanie Ruhle put it, Even if not all of it is true, the spirit of the book is and its troublesome. Its chaotic.
Whats true and whats fiction doesnt matter because as that cable news personality basically put it, it fit what they all believe to be the case. We are now in a time where what is news is determined by the spidey sense of activists with media credentials.
As we learned with the Titanic, there is a lot more to an iceberg than just the tip. And this ridiculous week was no different.
A group of Democrats in Congress held briefings on Capitol Hill with a Yale professor named Brandy X. Lee who, in admitted complete violation of the ethics governing her profession, has edited and contributed to a book claiming President Donald Trump is losing his mind. Whats the point of ethics when you have a product to sell?
Lee found a receptive audience among the more unstable liberals in Congress, including Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin, who regaled CNN with tales of his concern for Trumps mental health. Raskin, looking like hed recently slept in a bag of potato chips, told CNN of his concern that the President was crazy.
Whats really crazy is advocating for policies that have failed throughout the world, as Raskin and his fellow travelers often do in government. Unstable is the mind calling for socialized medicine and extol the virtues of the UKs National Health Service without acknowledging the fact that all non-emergency surgeries have been canceled for the month of January because their system is simply overwhelmed. Thats straightjacket-level insane.
All that in one week, without even mentioning the feud between President Trump and Steve Bannon over what Bannon told Wolff on the record for his book. On that I will say this: While Ive only known Sloppy Steve socially, he strikes me as someone who does not think through what he does beforehand, but is capable of incredible feats of mental yoga to find ways to justify what hed done after hes done it. This jives with everything my friends who did work for him have told me about their experiences.
If the things Bannon has said about his political principles and goals were true, he became one of the biggest obstacles to achieving them with repeated slips of his sharp, arrogant tongue. The former chief strategist to the President only helped his cause if his cause changed to self-destruction.
And let us not forget about the fake Gorilla Channel story about the President that liberals swallowed hook, line, sinker
and whole boat. Like I said, 2018 started off with an incredibly stupid week. Only 51 more of them to go
Somewhere along that warped space/time continuum there was the day when everyone was supposed to create some “energy” by engaging and coitus and (hopefully) simultaneously climaxing at midnight.
Many abstained.
Isn’t this ultimately good for Trump?
Isn’t this “poisoning the well” for Mueller and all the other Trump hunters?
Isn’t the whole “Get Trump” movement self-destructing ?
Just asking!
[ We Live in Stupid Times ]
The Presidential Election of 2008 and 2012 proved that; far beyond the shadow of any doubt.
BIL, working in Denver at the time, had a friend that had a co-worker (IIRC) disappear during that time. Nobody knew where he was.
He showed up days later, having climbed somewhere in the mountinas to absorb the Harmonic Convergence beams of wisdom or something..
For liberals, up is down, left is right, lies are truth, Hillary is innocent, The Clinton Foundation is a legitimate and honest charity, homosexual marriage is good, Obama is a truthful man who tried to help America, etc., etc.
Frankly I have never seen anything like it in my life. And they stay stuck on stupid. I can’t believe I’m witnessing this in real-time. They’re like people deluded for Adolph Hitler. Ridiculous devotion despite all reality.
They way they stick to it, religiously, makes me think the only logical explanation is spirit of antichrist. Shoot, I saw “Bible prophecy” Christians who openly declared they thought Obama was Christian. Absolutely no discernment at all. It’s surreal.
Wish it was that simple. It is worse than stupid thanks to the last few decades of moron-generating government schools.
We live in times that Forrest Gump would be considered Mensa material
Fat stupid people of whom half hate the country and its history
This will be settled with violence
It has to be
The Presidential Election of 2008 and 2012 proved that; far beyond the shadow of any doubt.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Well 2008 could be counted as stupid with some being ‘sucked’ in by a young (supposedly) articulate person
-that smelled good and spoke well and 10 years ago would have been shining our shoes —Comments by top ranking FRIENDS of his—
running against someone who appeared to not really want the job and people didn’t take him seriously as (most) ALL believed a snowstorm on the 4th of July in South Florida was a better possibility than ‘THAT GUY’ actually winning a National Election.
2012 just proved that more people (supposedly) showed up to vote that were definitely bat guano crazy.
I witnessed first-hand people who didn’t know this guy from Satan talking about him like he was some glowing messiah - with a glint in their eyes like a deranged cult member.
2008 was when it started. Then I started seeing the freaky stuff, the model wearing a dress with his face on it, the ridiculous claims, “linking” him with Holy Scripture (good gosh), church song sung by congregation praising him, the Hitler youth-like songs, .....
It was just beyond bizarre. To me, anyways.
I need to re-watch Idiocracy to see how things will turn out.
Everything is Satan, isn’t it? I find it hard to tell where Satan ends and people being people begins. Maybe I’m the only non-Satanic being in the Universe while everyone else is trying to do me in. And that’s why I live alone.
Save some big ass fries for me, will ya?
LOL
Well, surprisingly, a lot of people don’t know that Satan is the (temporary) ruler of this world. It was handed over in the Garden of Eden. Yeah by us. It’s our fault.
Planet Earth and her inhabitants have but one hope - Jesus Christ the Messiah. Most will reject that notion as foolishness - it is so prophesied.
That’s why John weeps in Revelation because no one was found worthy to open the scroll (to redeem the Earth). Then John is told to stop weeping for the Lion of the Tribe of Judah has prevailed. And so, the seven seals are opened first and then the restoration begins - but there must be an end to all things as they were.
The reason we have death, illness, war. crime, etc. is because we let Satan loose into the world. He’ll eventually be dealt with for good. But first he’s going to come to a time where his “time is short” - IOW, his reign is about to come to an end - (there’s a little time he’s set loose again at the end of the Millennial Reign) - but that’s another story.
All of us have been deceived and followed Satan in some way rebelling against God.
Isaiah 53:6 KJV
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(For example sign of the times) I never thought I’d see so many people embrace gay marriage - Biology 101 tells you they can’t reproduce - they can only recruit (as some have said).
Yeah I’m a sinner too, of different sorts, than above but still guilty before God - had to confess before God (little bit more on my homepage) that I needed a saving Messiah.
I’m surprised how much our society has changed in the past few decades. But I’ll admit, that’s my $0.02.
(I know, I know - whacky Bible stuff, LOL)
Umm, you might want to look up the meaning of a word before you use it.
I know that it's a common mistake among the uneducated, but there is no verb "to jive." Rather, you should have used the verb "to jibe" (= be consistent).
Regards,
I didn't even bother to engage them about the items and I'll let you guess the race of the person (hint: they were not Irish nor Scandinavian). They just raved on about him as if he was The Second Coming of Jesus.
We had the Greatest Generation, I don't want to be the *stoopid generation*. Is that deep-friend butter on a stick?
