Former Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson reacted angrily to President Trump's apparent abandonment of a campaign pledge to leave pot policy to the states, saying he hopes the pivot ends Trump's shot at re-election.
Johnson, who served two terms as a Republican governor of New Mexico, said the Trump administration is "grossly underestimating the anger this will create."
"I hope it dooms his re-election. Trump promised to leave marijuana to the states," Johnson told the Washington Examiner.

Medical marijuana (MM) is a HUGE deal these days. Stopping that makes one look like a stooge of big pharma.
MM works, and works VERY well. I have too many examples in my family and friends that prove it. It’s undeniable. Forcing it under the table is political suicide.

Trump can propose federal decriminalization and he’d have my support (even though I believe my state should continue to make it a criminal offense). Until the current law is overturned, I hope Trump keeps his oath to the Constitution.

Because we have a federal law against marijuana use, the justice department needs to enforce it. The alternative is to get the Congress and Senate to rescind the federal law.
It amazes me that so many people do not understand the fundamentals of our democratic republic.
Well, the congressional pot heads might be angry. But one must look at what we might gain against what we might lose. Politicians that are collectivists see legal pot as a cash cow to put off the day of reckoning for their political misdeeds. Regular law abiding citizens (which overwhelmingly outnumber the miscreants) cannot be happy that human beings are now encouraged to publicly defacate in the public square. They used to talk s...! This will not sell well at election time. The DNC and their GOPe surrogates continue to self destruct, at an ever increasing rate. They are all afloat on a ‘boat’ in a toilet bowl and President Trump has flushed the toilet.

Contrary to popular opinion, not all those who label themselves “libertarian” are in fact potheads, or even favor the unrestricted use of pot by anybody. There are limits that apply even to libertarians.

When we can leave same-sex marriage to the states, then we can leave weed to the states. Fair?
Since these dimwits seem to think that a letter from the big “O” should reverse a federal law what would they think about doing the same for a number of other laws?
Lets start with the income tax law for one.
It is surprising folks are so narrow minded about this. Sessions rightfully is going after MS13. One of their big items is drugs. Best way to fight them is to be able to throw a wider net.
We aren’t going to have federal agents chasing medical pot users or folks getting high in their backyard. Who has time for that???????
Of course, it would help greatly if Jeffy actually explained what they are doing and why. Definitely a moron from being in the senate too long.
