I love this line from the article:
“ Just like when Rey handed Luke the light saber, we are stuck waiting for answers on this one.”
Looks like for us AMD users, it’s not really all that much of a threat though...yet.

A chicken little story.
The best pull quote: “A Spectre attack can only be executed in a lab by a gaggle of PhDs. Trying to pull this attack off would be like trying to stack Jenga blocks to a height of 25 feet on a crooked table as a drinking game. Possible, but very difficult. Even if an attacker could execute this attack, it is highly unlikely they would get anything of value out of it.”
More waste of digital space.

Methinks the “Spectre” bug is a minor flaw was trumped up by the researchers to satisfy some sort of backroom deal with Intel, since the “Meltdown” flaw is very bad news ...

FireFox just updated on my system.
Not sure if there is a noticeable difference as far as slowness, etc.

Another article on the processor vulnerabilities, this one concentrating on the Spectre attack on Intel, AMD, and ARM processor. Apple plans mitigations "in the coming days" for Safari, to defend against Spectre, and says it's already released Spectre mitigations in iOS 11.2 and tvOS 11.2, and in macOS 10.13.2 High Sierra to help defend against Meltdown. The iOS attack for Spectre further requires physical access of the target device, the device user's passcode, and a malware infected app with an Apple Certificate to modify the device's Firmware existing ON Apple's App Store, to install the malware. PING!
