Its true -- you are not dreaming. For the first time in 28 years, snow fell on the streets of Tallahassee, Florida during rush hour Wednesday morning.
The conditions are cold enough for the snow to form, but videos show it quickly melting as it hits the ground. The National Weather Service measured 0.1 of snow/sleet on their rooftop.
Roughly 50 miles of Interstate 10 have been closed in Tallahassee due to snow an ice. In lieu of the traditional salt, the unusual weather has prompted Florida Highway Patrol to lay down sand to melt the ice, according to ABC News Victor Oquendo.
Tallahassee Police @TallyPD Its snowing in Tallahassee! As exciting as this is, please use extreme caution if you are driving & dont expose yourself to the cold for too long without proper gear. #SunshineState #SnowDay #WinterIsHere 8:10 AM - Jan 3, 2018

Snowfall is unlikely in Orlando, but could be possible in Central Floridas most northern regions, according to Channel 9 Eyewitness News.
That happens in Northern Virginia too. Schools close for only a couple of inches.
I remember about an inch of snow in Jacksonville when I was staitoned at Mayport in 1970...
We had flurries once when I was attending FSU.
I understand it was snowing in Titusville yesterday. Its just bitter out there! And, our power is out! (apparently caused by loose wire, or such, on the transformer near our house). Line crews on the way.
Don’t tell Al Bore,
yes, global warming makes things colder ... it’s a “scientific” fact ...
It is cold, rainy, and raw here in Clearwater, FL. Brrrrrr this global warming stinks.
All those yankees that moved there trust cops more?
It is Flori-duh, after all.
Yep, schools were canceled and some businesses closed for the morning. There was a lot of sleet, more than I’ve ever seen here. Then there was a sustained period of snowfall... far more than the occasional once in 5 years flurry.
They just closed schools in Northern VA today with only a tiny bit of snow, and we’re actually used to it. They do this every year.
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
It's not like there's any shortage of sand or salt water in FL.
What kind of weather are you getting at the moment?
We’re getting a LOT of snow and the winds are gusty.
Not a night to be out, for sure.
Lots of heavy wet snow...over a foot, wind driven, and just miserable. The coastal communities are experiencing flooding doe to storm surges combined with unusually High Tides.
It’s the worst coastal flooding since 1978.
Nor’easter snow is the worst for being heavy and wet.
I just came in from shoveling my walkway and TRIED to get to my car. I gave up. Maybe tomorrow.
My car is buried, and the snow is too heavy.
I just had to cancel both my lessons for tomorrow.
I hate winter.
I hate to break this to you, but by tomorrow, everything might be encased in a block of ice with the temperatures that are forecast.
The news looks awful for your area and the moon is not even up yet so the tides have not yet peaked.
I’ll be praying for you.
Virtually every school in the area is closed tomorrow.
I don’t know about outside Central NY but here, there’s not going to be ANYONE out.
