James Clapper: ‘Reprehensible’ For Trump To Call The Justice Department ‘Deep State’
The Daily Caller ^ | 01/02/2018 | Justin Caruso

Posted on 01/03/2018 6:12:42 AM PST by MarvinStinson

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said during a CNN appearance Tuesday it was “reprehensible” and “disturbing” for President Trump to refer to the Justice Department as the “deep state.”

Clapper said, “I think it’s reprehensible to use that phraseology. I guess who that refers to is the career civil servants who are patriots dedicated to the country. I’d point out that when you take the oath of office as a civil servant you swear to uphold the Constitution.”

He continued, “It doesn’t say anything about pledging loyalty to this president or any other and if not doing so is what constitutes being part of the ‘Deep State,’ I think that represents a fundamental misunderstanding of what this country is all about and what this government is all about and I find that characterization disturbing.”

This is in reference to President Trump tweeting Tuesday morning:

Donald J. Trump✔@realDonaldTrump

Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others 7:48 AM - Jan 2, 2018

There once was a guy named James Clapper
Who thought about life on the crapper
When tried to hurt Trump
He got thrown on his rump
Then he realized he wasn’t that dapper.

I love how they roll out this guy as if he has a corner on the “gravitas” market. The guy was and remains Obama’s accomplice tased with politicizing the intelligence agencies of our country.

He has now been caught red-handed doing so yet still is the media’s go to guy when it comes to needing a serious fellow.

All Clapper needs to be a total phony is to add the MSNBC fake British accent and move his nose slightly up...

Yes, our pure Byzantium bureaucracy is incapable of waste fraud and abuse.

There needs to be a reckoning with these people.

By "civil servant", Clapper is referring to un-elected bureaucrats. I don't care about their oath of office or how these bureaucrats choose to interpret that oath - they are answerable to the elected representatives of the people, and at the executive level that is the POTUS. If Clapper's "patriots dedicated to the country" are determined to undermine the elected president with their "resistance" BS, they must be removed.

It is Clapper and his cronies still in and out of the government who are reprehensible. The “Deep State” is not the honest worker bees, it’s the command structure that is conniving to unseat Trump that needs to be tried for treason.

My reaction was slightly different from Clapper’s. I thought is was reprehensible and disturbing for the Justice Department to act as the deep state in opposing and undermining President Trump.

President Trump continues to trigger anti-Americans whether they are former Obama officials or progressives in general.

I love it!!!

Clapper, Brennan, Comey, etal. would look right at home in a gathering of 1952 Soviet politburo members.

Dour, pasty, humorless apparatchiks who know the “system” is what provides for and enriches them and will defend it at all costs, the truth, their conscience and the Constitution be damned.

And it’s ironic that James Clapper knows how to pronounce a five syllable word without understanding its meaning.

Yeah? Let's see some actual upholding of that Constitution. If most civil servants really wanted to uphold the Constitution, the first thing they would do would be to resign from their UNconstitutional job.
