I tried to talk Donald Trump out of Jerusalem decision but he wouldn’t listen, says Macron

In a trans-Atlantic phone call the young French leader warned the consequences would be severe.

However, Mr Tump clearly ignored Mr Macron’s advice and yesterday made the bombshell announcement.

Adding his voice to near worldwide condemnation Mr Macron said he ‘deplored’ the US president’s unilateral decision to officially recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, saying that the city’s status should be determined as part of a settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

During a news conference in Algiers, Algeria, he said: “It is a regrettable decision that France does not approve of, and that goes against international law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

One of the many reasons the US recognition of Jerusalem was necessary was to restore the level of trust between the US and Israel, after the Obama Administration’s 11th hour betrayal at the UN Security Council. If the UK and France were so concerned about retaining the ‘stability’ of the status quo without appropriate level of consultation, either country could have used their veto power to prevent passage of the resolution, until the new Trump Administration could be consulted.

So when France and the UK complain about the US acting ‘unilaterally’ to change the ‘status quo’ without ‘consultation’, they have no leg to stand on.

Macron is too dumb to realize his statement shows the world who is the leader and who is the wussy.

I remember that from exactly a year ago, you are right. Thanks for putting things to perspective.

And there is no greater statement against the terrorism which threatens us all than to uphold the integrity of Jerusalem and of Israel. Simple as that. It should be the starting point if anything.

Getting wishy washy on the matter has NOT curbed terror, just made it worse.

This is the true starting point of any real peace.

Who is Macron to tell anyone what to do. He is a kid who has been in office for a few days. He knows nothing. And he and his teacher mommy will get kicked out of office as soon as the next election.

Yesh the “conservative alternative” is still struggling to emerge though. Marine Le Pen and Front Nationale aren’t it...

Her niece, Marion-Marechal Le Pen is far more promising of a figure, but she is taking a break from politics.

There is some other guy, not Francois Fillon, whose name is escaping me but he seemed underwhelming too.

So it remains to be seen...

Why should Trump Listen to this Maroon? We see how weak was the response of the Arab Street and the rest of the world—Just a bunch of words at the UN. Trump called their bluff and all they had was a pair of duces. Trump put down his Full House and won the gamble. Rule One: Don’t try to Bluff the Big Dog! Macron learned a lesson—Trump isn’t Obama or Bush.

What peace. The “Palestinians” still want to wipe Israel off the map. Trumps move is another strong statement to them.

Absolutely true. If the Israelis were reduced to only inhabiting Tel Aviv, the "Palestinians" would attempt to claim half of that as necessary to a "peace" agreement. Their aim is to eradicate any claims by any other than muslims, on the entire planet. Reality is that the arab muslims don't want Israel to exist, period. Thank God for President Trump and the sanity of what he accomplishes.

he’s losing his own country to the Muslim invasion... and so he is trying to screw up everyone else, USA Israel and more

this is mentally sick behaviour

he should be trying to repair France (repatriate or deport or expel the invaders!) .. and that would keep him busy enough to mind his own damned business
