The Palestinian envoy to the United States says he is returning to Washington after just one day of "consultations" over President Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Husam Zomlot said he met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas privately.
He was instructed to return to Washington "immediately", he said.
On Sunday, Mr Abbas said he would not accept any US peace plan following Mr Trump's announcement.
The status of Jerusalem goes to the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the US announcement on 6 December led to protests and clashes in the Gaza Strip.
A UN resolution calling on the US to cancel the decision was backed overwhelmingly by the General Assembly.
In a Facebook post on Monday Mr Zomlot, the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) envoy, said he would be returning to the US after spending time "with loved ones".

Abbas has a perpetual and permanent position of wanting Israel to be wiped of the face of the earth.
Abbas heads a terror organization, he should have been droned a long time ago and Hamas driven out of Palestine like we drove ISIS out of Syria.
Send Mr Abbas back a message; “oh, well, we tried; we’ll just let Israel handle it.”
The envoy went on vacation to visit his relatives. A great example of fake news.

The Palestinians were never going to accept anything but the complete destruction of Israel.

There is not now, nor has there ever been a palestinian people but for the Roman appellation which was pirated by the Egyptian pig-man Arafat. There are rather various conglomerations of arabs which Israel, for whatever God forsaken reason, feels compelled to put up with.

So for over 24 years the US has given funds to the Palestinian Authority to promote “peace”. Nothing of the sort has occurred. Arafat and Abbas have refused to negotiate anything. The one time they were offered 95% of the West Bank they walked away, initiated terrorism, and screamed that it was Israels fault for not bowing to their demands. These demands would leave Israel faced with dual terrorist states (Gaza and the West Bank) on either side constantly launching terrorist raid against Israel.
The PA has never been a “partner for peace”. It has always promoted hatred for Jews and demanded that Israel cease to exist as a Jewish state.

EPIC FAIL. They thought the “withdraw” announcement would cause a diplomatic earthquake. But John Kerry is no longer SoS, and Rex couldn’t give two shits what the un-elected dictator Abbas has to say. And they couldn’t even get Trump to tweet about it. So they sent him back.
The "two states" are Israel and Jordan. The boundaries were determined first by Muslim conquest and then by Jewish military victories. Nothing else matters.
