HOUSTON - A man has been arrested on multiple charges after police located a small arsenal of guns on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street downtown, Houston police said.
Police at the hotel called for backup around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after they attempted to arrest the man for being intoxicated and trespassing. When help arrived, police noticed ammunition laying around the man's hotel room, Lt. Gordon Macintosh with Houston police said.
The man was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing. When investigators looked into his room further, they located an AR-15, a shotgun, a handgun and lots of ammunition, Macintosh said.
The Hyatt is preparing its own New Years Eve celebration at the hotel with a 50,000 balloon drop at the stroke of midnight, its website said.

He wasn’t going to the range.
And an AR-15 lying around a hotel room would not make me rest easy if I was one room down.
............
Possible but you'd think he'd leave them at home...
Houston police uncovered a stash of weapons Sunday morning after showing up at a downtown hotel to arrest a drunk man.Sounds like the cops arrested him at the bar and then went to his room to get his belongings.Staff at the Hyatt Regency Houston called for police around 1:30 a.m. for help handling a highly intoxicated man at the hotel bar.
At first, security at the 1200 Louisiana hotel tried sending the argumentative guest to his room, but he started fighting with them, officials said. So security called the Houston police.
The first officer planned to arrest him for trespassing, but discovered the man was drunk and belligerent.
When the officer spotted ammunition lying around the man's hotel room, he decided to call for backup.
“One shotgun, one AR, and one handgun? Sounds to me like he didnt want to leave them in his vehicle overnight, is all”..........
OR, he was planning for some target practice at the 50,000 balloons that the hotel was planning to let loose. Perhaps he was a forward thinker.
” So much stinks about the Las Vegas massacre”
McCabe.
Sounds like he was drunk and belligerent at Hyatt bar which was trying to close. I don’t know Texas law, but trespassing might be the best charge (next to drunk and disorderly).
A semi-auto rifle is handy to have if you come across a perp with a rifle, such as we've seen of a church shooting recently. Terrorists or thug perps having rifles can block traffic on a limited access highway.
There's nothing wrong with having an AR-15, you'd know that if you had any military or serious defensive training.
The wrong he committed was drinking while having those firearms in his possession, he should have been vigilant at all times.
WAY more to this story....WHY was he arrested for Trespassing and WHATS HIS NAME??

Lot we don’t yet. But I’m not sure he was carrying at the time based upon this article. Who knows what is correct.

While gathering up the suspect’s belongings, police reportedly found an AR-15, a shotgun and a handgun, with many rounds of ammunition.
Investigators are waiting to talk to the unruly guest and figure out why he showed up to the hotel with multiple guns. He’s facing charges of trespassing and unlawful carry.
I’m not a fan of drunks with guns. I’d favor laws for guns similar to laws for driving.
And don’t throw self defense at me. If someone is drunk, they are as likely to hurt themselves or an innocent if they ‘feel threatened’. They certainly lack the capacity to exercise judgment on when and who (or what, if hunting) to shoot.
This is a case where a location placed in the headline might have been a BIG help.
I would guess the police released his name. The drive-by media just doesn't want to publish that name, for some strange reason.
.
Daily load out around here.
Perhaps the mods will stick the name Houston at the beginning of the title.
I agree with you. I’m wary of drunks with firearms too and don’t want them around me. I own firearms and love to shoot, and I also enjoy a drink or two but not concurrently. It always seemed a recipe for trouble.
They should outlaw alcohol immediately!
Sounds like another “Bundy” type investigation.
Meanwhile, NO news out of LV for WEEKS
I'll drink to that.
The average police car has more weaponry than that.
Is that all it takes to qualify as a "small arsenal?" {snort}
