The Trump administration fired the remaining 16 members of the top White House advisory board on HIV and AIDS-related issues, it was reported on Thursday.

The firings were announced in separate letters mailed to the council members by FedEx earlier this week.

The fired members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS were all appointed to their posts during the Obama administration, according to The Washington Blade.

PACHA ‘provides advice, information, and recommendations to the [Health and Human Services] Secretary regarding programs, policies, and research to promote effective treatment, prevention, and cure of HIV disease and AIDS,’ according to its web site. […]

After Barack Obama entered office, his White House dismissed all of PACHA’s members who were appointed during the terms of President George W. Bush.

Nonetheless, HIV and AIDS activists criticized the Trump administration. …

I thought it was Reagan as the aids problem became a monster during his Presidency.

As I recall the sequence of events, AIDS emerged as a growing cause of death during the Reagan years, and the administration moved in a straightforward way to address it as public health authorities would address any new disease. This meant a focus on epidemiology, including investigation of modes of transmission and contact tracing, as well as the search for improved treatment and a cure. So far, so good. But this sensible approach ran directly into the buzzsaw of militant homosexual activism, which was also emerging at the time. The homosexual lobby did not want gays to be stigmatized, did not want AIDS identified as a "gay disease," did not want contact tracing and partner notification because that would involve invasions of privacy, and above all did not want any limitations on the exuberant promiscuity that was (and is) so widespread in homosexual culture. So: AIDS became politicized.

We have in AIDS the first (and, let us hope, the last) situation in which disease vectors came to be regarded as a privileged and protected class, the victims of a disease systematically resisted basic epidemiology, and honest discussion was denounced as homophobic. In the view of the homosexual lobby, the ONLY legitimate role of public health authorities was to produce a cure, immediately, and provide it at public expense. Meanwhile, the sexual carnival would continue unabated. The whole thing is insane.

Curing AIDS removes the disincentive for that kind of behavior.

"What’s to advise?"

Maybe something like, "Just say no".

Oh wait, that was for another issue I think. Ok, I know it is early //sarc off//

One of my all time favorite quotes:

Reporter: "Why did you fire all the air traffic controllers?"

Reagan: "It's against the law to strike. They struck. Looks like they quit, to me."

Many people die of AIDS, thru no fault of their own or gay sex, because of blood transfusions, unfaithful partners, or innocent children infected by mothers.

That said, one person could probably do the Commissions job, to unify all agencies.

“The measure also applies to those who give blood without telling the blood bank that they are HIV-positive.”

California seems to me to be an alternative universe these days.

They don’t care about AIDS transmission but don’t even THINK of lighting one cigarette on a beach.

yes but the cause of that aids always goes back to homosexual sex acts. That is what causes the transfusion death. The fact that it is a transfusion does no exonerate those who caused the death. One thing the commission could do is to mirror the great and successful program in Cuba of 100% quarantine. This would have saved the transfusion murdered child.

AIDS may have come directly from sexual gays, however it is no longer the only cause, and once the Aids is transmitted via transfusion...how would the child be saved, unless all blood was removed and replaced. 100% quarantine may work by separating Aids persons from all contact.....maybe.

Quarantine is the answer but the government didnt want to stigmatize sick homosexuals so much that they were willing to and did sacrifice millions of innocent lives!! That murderer was C Edward Koop. He was a mush brained simpleton who lied to the people about aids and the needless slaughter ensued. and the press cheered at each new innocent death. But glorify the faggot at all costs.

Once a government position gets created, it is hard to get rid of. Trough feeders don’t like to give up all that free money.

Kudos to Trump!

And how can it possibly take 16 people to run it?

My guess: a bunch of smug self-congratulatory libs sitting around telling each other how wonderful and caring and intelligent they are while drawing big salaries and accomplishing nothing. If any of them have actual medical/scientific skills, I withdraw my snarky comment regarding intelligence.
