The beavers did her a favor. Bradford pears tend to grow to a certain size and commit suicide by shedding branches.

“In my experience Beavers definitely create warming!”
Indeed. And there’s always a shortage of beaver boards out in the boonies.

More like a cold sweat.

The global warming angle is Fake News but there has been a boom in the beaver population in Canada due to significant reductions in trapping the critters. Ecosystems tend to find an equilibrium and ours has depended on trapping to keep the beaver population in check. There are many areas where I live that have been flooded by beaver dams that 20 years ago were just small creeks.

As I am reading this, I am boiling the next pot of salt water to pour down my frozen drains and praying the pipes don’t burst in the process.

The great thing about Beavers and their dance is that they slow the water in the watershed and it leads to a much higher water table and a richer riparian environment.
Benefits of beavers:
- Reduce damaging floods
- Recharge drinking water aquifers
- Remove pollutants from surface and ground water
- Drought protection
- Decreased erosion
- Produce food for fish and other animals
- Support biodiversity, including 43% of our endangered species
- Increase salmon populations
- Create various vital habitats
- Repair incised and damaged stream channels and watersheds
- Preserve open space
- Maintain stream and river flow
Also I'm happy that Earth may be entering another warm period (which is not because of CO2 the way) because a warmer environment is a richer environment. CO2 has been scientifically proven to increase plant growth and lower the water use a plants and has been used in green houses for decades to increase yields.
