This has already been tried many times - The Avengers, Femme Nikita, SALT, Mr. and Mrs. Smith etc. If it had legs (no pun intended) it would already be a genre.

Judi Dench was great in the M role, but they can never feminize the Bond role.

Charlize Theron in “Atomic Blonde” came close. They should definitely cast her as Jane Bond.

The intelligent thing would be to have a female 005 or some such partner with Daniel Craig, and see if she clicks enough with the audience to give her her own movie later, rather than risk killing the Bond franchise.
