Fictional Cold War warrior James Bond should be played by a woman, Theresa May has said, hailing the new female Doctor Who as a victory for “girl power”. Speaking on a flight to Cyprus last week, where she gave a Christmas address to troops at RAF Akrotiri, the prime minister revealed she was a fan of the BBC science fiction show Doctor Who, and lauded the public broadcaster’s decision to cast Jodie Whittaker in the iconic time traveller’s role.
“I think it’s a great move forward for girl power that there is going to be a female Doctor Who. And one day there should be a female James Bond,” she told reporters.
May added she had heard that actor James Norton was tipped as the next actor likely to play the fictional spy and Royal Navy Commander created by writer Ian Fleming in 1953.

Theresa May needs to focus on Brexit, and very little else while she is still in office. Let people like Piers Morgan offer unrequested Movie plots.
I’m OK with the switch on Doctor Who. It’s a show about millenia-old alien who time travels and can rebuild his (now her) body every time it’s near fatally injured or aged. The real-world reason the process of “regeneration” was introduced is because William Harnell, the original star’s health was declining and he was having trouble remembering his lines, causing major headaches for production schedules.
The network didn’t want to lose an extremely popular and profitable show, so they took advantage of the fact that their lead character was an alien and gave him the ‘superpower’ of being able to rebuild his body, allowing the part to be recast indefinitely whenever the lead actor decided to move on.
The Doctor being played by a woman doesn’t even crack the top ten bizarre things to happen on that show and certainly isn’t out of the question within the shoe’s mythology.
But a female 007 would be pandering, pure and simple.
Theresa May is almost making Jeremy Corbyn look less red.
The problem with the strong female lead is that they are playing a male role. A woman weighing in at 100 pounds can not KO a guy 100 pounds heavier with a right cross to the jaw. If she uses jujitsu, fine. But they want their female leads to be better at being a male lead than a male is. This just ruins movies for me. It’s fine for me if the female is smarter or sneakier or wins because she set it up so he couldn’t do anything about it, but that’s not the way the SJW’s want to portray it. That also takes some really good writing and you don’t see much of that in Hollywood today.
