Two professors from San Diego State University claim in a new book that farmers markets in urban areas are weed-like white spaces responsible for oppression.
Pascale Joassart-Marcelli and Fernando J Bosco are part of an anthology released this month titled Just Green Enough. The work, published by Routledge, claims there is a correlation between the whiteness of farmers markets and gentrification.
Farmers markets are often white spaces where the food consumption habits of white people are normalized, the SDSU professors write, the education watchdog Campus Reform reported Wednesday.

No, you not woke, we all yt pepo now.
FTA: “farmers markets in urban areas are weed-like ‘white spaces’ responsible for oppression...farmers markets cater to ‘households from higher socio-economic backgrounds...”
Could these just be NPR yuppies “buying local”?
Some of the dumbest people I know wear smart glasses.
Liberal insanity at its best.
How does someone this insane actually become a “professor”.
IF this is what a “professor” is, send your kid to a trade school to learn a marketable skill, because these idiots have nothing to offer.
Bull$hit ! I sell watermelons.
They cant possibly have gone to many farmers markets. Here in Arkansas a high percentage of the sellers are Cambodian or Vietnamese. Its awesome. Ive learned many new veggies to eat. Food is one of the few things that bonds people.
These people are such fools.
7-elevens run by Indians selling grape soda, skittles, swisher sweets and funions to street thugs should be considered the new normal... and the healthy choice.
Eating real food is only for crackas.
What about pointed sticks?
I prefer the brussel sprout, but nailed to a two by four.
“Holy shit. This might be the funniest one yet.”

I absolutely guarantee there will be a funnier one coming along any day now.
These people are stark,raving,mad.

Interesting that 44.5% of SDs population is white.
Wow, I get it now. the Left Wing people are actually trying to shut down places where there are no racism, and places where you can get organically grown food that has no chemicals. And places that challenge big business. the Professors are helping corporations, companies that use dangerous chemicals, and rich white owned businesses who contribute heavily to the Democrat Party.
Funny, when I was young as a classical liberal, everything that todays liberals embrace were the very things classical liberals of the 1970’s protested against.....Like living off the grid, raising your own food, raising children (And not aborting them), trading and bartering (A No No in todays liberal world evading taxes), not trusting government (Todays liberals believe everything the CIA and FBI tells them) Never trusting the mainstream media (todays liberals hang on every word from MSM). In fact todays liberals would have been the authoritarian conservatives in the 1960’s.
How this country has changed
These people are soooo miserable!
Well, that clarifies it for us. There is apparently a semantic link between the concepts of "alternative food initiatives", "gentrification, "community activists", and something vaguely termed "environmental justice." Perhaps if I could hire some of the old Bletchley Park codebreakers they might be able to link it all up for us. Either that or it's just the customary intestinal gas that passes for academic jargon these days.
Which one is Fernando???
Farmers' markets should be added to the list of racist things on the Everything is Racism site.
I was surprised at the sloppiness of the Washington Times article...the professors are in the Geography Dept, and they are not both men as reported...one of the “erudite” professors appears to be a Belgian woman—like many PhDs, she thinks she is an expert in everything—just like actors.
She does have that look.
Blacks have been indoctrinated that farming = slavery/racism.
At what point do you declare these idiots are just insane and have them committed?
