Conventional wisdom says that Democrats hold all the cards when it comes to the upcoming debate on Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals.
The reality, however, is that former President Barack Obamas illegal edict to legalize undocumented youth will automatically expire in March, meaning it will be the Democrats who will be scrambling for votes to save it.
Consequently, all the Republicans have to do is sit back and make a list of the demands Democrats will have to compromise on if Democrats wish to keep DACA alive.
This presupposes, of course, that Republicans can act like conservatives and not like a bunch of RINOs that many have morphed into you over the past many years.
For example, Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., remarkably was doing the Democrats bidding this past month, using passage of DACA as leverage before he would vote for the Republican tax bill.
Think about this. Was this Republican senator holding out to get enhanced tax cuts for small businesses, or protections for property taxpayers? No, he was placing the goals of 800,000 undocumented individuals over the needs of 170 million citizen taxpayers.
The ugly truth is, too many Republicans have been complicit in allowing the illegal immigration problem to snowball out of control. Democrats promoted open borders because they believed one day these immigrants would obtain citizenship and become an insurmountable majority voting bloc for generations to come. Meanwhile, Republicans acquiesced to ensure a steady flow of cheap labor to boost profits for the business community.
These pro-illegal immigration RINOs were living in a bubble, far removed from the rank-and-file Republican voters who wanted a leader who really meant it when he said we need to enforce our immigration laws. Enter Donald Trump.
Trump refused to tiptoe on the politically correct tightrope. And though his rhetoric was often over the top, he hit a chord. While other Republicans were parroting the Democrats mantra of comprehensive immigration reform, rank-and-file Republicans knew this was code for amnesty.
The base overruled the Republican establishment, electing the one candidate who they felt was serious about enforcement. Since then, many Republican officials have gotten religion on the issue. Now comes the test with the upcoming DACA vote.
The 1986 amnesty was supposed to be the last of its kind, but it sent the message that it's worth crossing the border illegally, because, in time, a new generation of lawmakers will provide yet another amnesty. Thus, we had 11 to 20 million additional undocumented aliens flooding over the southern border since.
If Republicans are going to entertain another amnesty, dangerously sending the message that illegal crossings pay off, they had best get concessions that will ensure the flow of illegal entry will be controlled once and for all.
Heres what Republicans must get:
1) End of sanctuary cities.
Receive a legislative concession from Democrats that any city defying the federal government on this issue will lose its federal funding.
2) Kate's Law
Pass this law that imposes mandatory five-year sentences for deported criminal illegal aliens who try to make it back into the states.
3) The Wall and border security.
Fences work or we wouldn't put them up. Ask the Israelis, who saw terrorist attacks drop precipitously after its wall was built. The one-time spending on the Wall will pay for itself very quickly due to the elimination of the billions that would otherwise be spent annually on still more illegal new arrivals.
4) E-Verify.
A wall wouldnt even be necessary if E-verify was enforced both prospectively and retroactively. If you dont have either a valid Social Security or Alien ID number (or other legal dispensation), you shouldnt be able to hold a job in America. Congress must require every employer to utilize the E-Verify database and if they fail to do so, punish them with hefty fines that provide the necessary deterrent.
This presently available option is the remedy to the illegal immigration problem. And the frustrating thing is, its been available for quite some time. There simply has been a lack of will from both parties to actually enforce it.
Now the proof will be in the pudding. If Democrats want amnesty for all undocumented youth, they should first have to compromise and allow these items to be passed so we are ensured this is the last amnesty this nation will ever have to provide.

There is no negotiating on this other than mode of transportation back to the country of origin.
Decouple DACA from its chain migration clause. That is essential.
5) An end to chain migration. The “Dreamers” should not be able to get legalized, and then bring in the parents who brought them in illegally.
I like his list.
If we get all of those things plus an end to chain migration I’m maybe ok for some type of legal residency permit, but never citizenship - they have not earned it.
Children belong with their parents first.
Children DO NOT belong in America first.
Deport them to their legal country.
Chain migration and citizenship. Let them go through the long expensive trail. They can stay here on green cards. If any felony immediate deportation after serving their term.
Then what do we have? Second class citizens who will call themselves neo-slaves and they will hate America.
and, after we let them in, they will continue to work for cash to send back to Mexico and continue to abuse our generous welfare systems.
Sure sounds like Daca is a winning deal for America!
Deport 10,000 a month until the wall is funded, built, and manned.
No chain migration.
No dreamer that used public assistance
No criminal record
Must pass American history test
Must pass a physical and drug test
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must have steady employment
All payments transferred to Mexico shall pay a fee of 25%
All future migration will be tied to OUR unemployment and voted on in an national election
After Democrats “refuse to budge” on wall funding, Trump’s DHS and DOJ should distribute a fake “interagency
memorandum “gearing up for increased deportations” after DACA’s expiration. First, to see who leaks it, and fire and charge them — and ban the reporter from the White House. And second, to scare the crap out of the left into capitulating, before denying the memo completely.
Send them ALL BACK!!!
Sorry, too late for that.
The parents are already covered under Obama’s DACA.
When Trump makes this deal, all the parents come with it.
Just 1 thing, they cannot vote!
Plagiarized from my own post, 11 months ago.
That is why we elected President Trump. Real Americans want:
1. A road along the entire border, navigable by Jeep or similar vehicle, with triple strand concertina wire barriers 100-200 yards on each side monitored frequently for vandalism. That can be done very quickly and will immediately slow the crossings of illegals. We must secure the border so illegals cannot easily enter (or reenter after being deported).
2. At least one additional barrier on our side beyond those double barbed wire obstacles, whether a fence, a wall, or something else physical to prevent unauthorized passage. Plus a barrier on the Mexican side built by Mexico to avoid penalties/retaliation. We must secure the border so illegals cannot easily enter (or reenter after being deported).
3. Pregnant illegals who are not immediately deported should be held outside the United States so their anchor babies will not be US citizens.
4. All illegals who committed the crime of entering our country illegally or of overstaying after legal entry and then committed any other crime while in our country should be deported. No exceptions. Those deported should be permanently barred from any legal reentry or path to citizenship. Any state or local government with a sanctuary policy should be barred from receiving federal funds; and illegals who access social services, including schools, should be provided those services as ordered by the courts but also required to be reported to ICE (or if not required, pay a bounty to nurses, teachers, etc. who report illegals who are deported as a result of that report).
5. Once those are taken care of, we should deport the remaining illegals (or better, encourage them to go home on their own). Allow those who go home on their own to apply for legal reentry and legal status. Those deported should be permanently barred from any legal reentry or path to citizenship - again, no exceptions. For those who go home on their own, we should take into account in their visa applications any past history of productive work in the United States, English proficiency if they learned our language while here, and any record of living here without using welfare and other social services.
6. The only way for illegals to gain legal status should be to apply from their home countries for legal entry after voluntarily going home. Note: We also need to fix legal immigration so that the number of immigrants approved by Congress and by the President can obtain visas in a reasonable time to come here, and they can do it from the countries we wish to receive immigrants from, after thorough background checks.
Why is the writer accepting the Left’s premise? There is nothing to debate here; ergo, no deal to even put on the table.
This presupposes that elected Republicans oppose illegal immigration, and if you believe that you are an idiot.
All payments transferred to Mexico shall pay a fee of 25%
why should they get a 50% discount on taxes for the money they illegally earned??
15% SS/medicare
20% Fed Tax
10-12% State Tax(california)
You FReepers make me wanna puke. Why do you want to compromise on this? You know the Left’s groups will file suit to weaken any deal made.
