sounds good to me thanks
A friend of mine moved a large, 35-40 foot tall magnolia, several miles from where he worked to his house. He had to make a huge root ball, trim the limbs off to the trunk so that it looked like a telephone pole, dig a huge hole in his front yard 20 feet across and 6 feet deep, twice as big as the root ball, then planted it, filled it in and watered it continuously for a month.
It looked like a dead tree for months until it sprouted new growth. It took several years for it to fill out and look like a normal magnolia again, which it still does, though he no longer owns the property............
Magnolias are a slow growing tree...............
Magnolias are living things and so have finite lifespans...Average for a Southern Magnolia is around 100 years, so this one has done well to make it this long...
They could always take a seed from the original Jackson magnolia - it still stands in Jackson’s garden at the Hermitage.
That tree owned slaves and was just real racist—200 evil years old. Off with it.
I heard it was used in a couple of lynchings back in the day.
...................................................................................................
That’ll shut ‘em up..........
Better headline
Tree planted with shoddy soil by disgruntle slaves ready to fall down.
Hah! Those commie bastards left any sense of shame behind decades ago.
You can see an offspring of the Jackson Magnolia at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, Calif.
The wonderful, beautiful First Lady, Melania Trump, could cut down my tree anytime.
lol, I don't know if you're seriously concerned or teasing, but I have never understood the G-d formulation. Clearly some people believe that saying God is somehow wrong, but I don't believe that. God is my friend. At least I hope so. And the God I believe in is certainly not so uncharitable that He would find an innocent mention of Him somehow wrong.
Those shoots from the original tree are probably considered to be the age of the original tree.
If a seed fell off and those are seedlings, then no. But if they popped up from the roots, then they could be.
A bonsaied tree, is considered to be the age of the tree it was taken from, if it grows from a cutting and not a seed.
I would welcome a correction if others find this to be inaccurate.
This is how I have understood it.
Heh. If asked nicely, I'll bet the curator of Beauvoir might donate one. ;-)
“First Lady Melania Trump gave the final order to fell the so-called Jackson Magnolia, which the Democratic seventh president planted in memory of his late wife, Rachel, following the divisive 1828 election that Jackson blamed for her death, the station reported.
The FLOTUS made the decision following a recommendation from the US National Arboretum, which found the overall architecture and structure of the tree is greatly compromised and the tree is completely dependent on the artificial support.”

It wasnt the in vain thing it was sarcasm over snowflakes hearing the word God and getting upset about recognizing any power greater than socialism, their god.
[so now, we will hear how Melania is a tree cutter, despoiler of the environment, and other epithets from the enviro-extremist crowd, over this action]
Tell them to go direct their anger at the OBAMA PRESIDENT OBAMA LIBRARY in CHICAGO with its plans to cement five acres of pristine forest for a parking lot.
