An attorney and private school teacher from Washington, DC, is accusing United Airlines of removing her from her first-class seat only to give the seat to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).

Airline staff told Simon the seat was taken and gave her a $500 voucher, along with another ticket for the same flight in Economy Plus.

I hear you. I do my best to be invisible when flying. :)
I just want to get to where I’m going injury-free.
Jksn-Lee should have been evicted from the plane. At 30,000.
Be careful, they will arrest you for a threat against the slug.
I don’t take less than $500. I can often tell by the board list what they will be paying.
Now I know why they have those expensive last minute flights. If someone is a no show, they win.
If too many people show up, the bump offer is usually lower than what last minute tickets cost.
They usually win no matter what.
What pisses me off is when you have connecting flights and they close the door early, considering it full, and then sit on the tarmac for an extra 15 minutes after you missed the flight. That happened to me in Atlanta last month. (What was a real pain was that Delta uses both ends of the Atlanta Airport and I had to go end to end three times after getting bumped)
I used to try to be invisible.
But now, I arrive extra early so that I can be as VISIBLE and PROBLEMATIC as possible! I DEMAND a physical pat-down (refuse to be x-rayed - I get x-rayed twice a year at my VA visits, where they fill me with radium and then give me ibuprofen for a nickel-sized hole in my ankle), but I digress...
When they ask if I want this done in private, I say (VERY LOUDLY), “No, I would rather you sexually assault me where I have witnesses and I’m sure it is on camera!” I have scissors in my backpack and make sure to make them visible on scanning - so they have to take them out and argue with me that I can’t have them, then quote them there own rules about being less than 4” in length!
Yep, I’m one of those people the rest of you hate, but if more people started copying my peaceful protest, maybe, just MAYBE, the government and TSA would realize how damn stupid the majority of these actions truly are! What needs to happen is good old police-type work, which includes stereotyping and watching people’s actions and reactions and RANDOM pat-downs/scannings - the perps will tell on themselves 99% of the time! They should still scan all carry-on bags (they were doing that BEFORE 9/11), but this take off your shoes and belts and all that crap is just STUPID! I mean, they had an underwear bomber! DO I need to strip out of those too?!?
We MUST start pushing back against these intrusive, demeaning and USELESS procedures! If TSA actually catches a would-be terrorist, he would have to be the DUMBEST TERRORIST on the planet!! Like the two incompetents that caused all this added stupidity: the failed shoe and underwear bombers!
In Phoenix, I picked up my boarding pass at the ticket counter by showing my ID.
I then went through airport screening where they matched my ID and ticket. I watched this woman hold the two side by side and compare them.
I then boarded the plane, only to find out that my seat was full, I had someone else’s boarding pass. Names and appearances were not even close.
My confidence in their security tanked.
Maybe you shouldn't take the three Viagra prior to the pat-down.
Maya Angelou loved to fly on the Concorde.
I hadn’t thought of that, but maybe next time! Unfortunately, I don’t fly as often as I used to - now maybe once a year.
Back in the late 90’s thru early 2011, I was flying 20+ times a year.
>That outburst would get you deplaned.
...and on YouTube, which would go viral, if not, be evidence in court and I’d be RICH /s
Either way, UA was going to lose here.
In fact, if she paid for 1st and then got bumped, then she got railed.
If she was upgraded on points, I think she’ll still get those points back, plus the money, plus she got home.
Companies have very few ways of dealing with these sorts of despotic members of Congress. Very few. Same with military. You end up with a member on your boat, stand by for doing things you are not supposed to do, you can’t afford to do, and things you absolutely must do.
An attorney and private school teacher from Washington, DC, going on a Christmas trip to Guatemala.
She has left wing kook written all over her. I think it’s funny if she was bumped by a higher ranking democrat. 99% chance she’s not a Trump/Reagan fan.
I see your logic, but don’t have any background.
It does say she paid for the flight with 140,000 miles of travel. Sounds like she was using rewards point for the flight.
I like driving to places. :)
I had no clue who Maya Angelou was. Had to look it up.
“I had no clue who Maya Angelou was.”

Lucky you !
.
I suppose its _possible_ the DC attorney who goes on Christmas vacay to Guatemala (holy to leftists) and who teaches the spawn on DC in a private school is a conservative... but if I had to bet a paycheck, I bet she has a pussy hat.
If I recall correctly, the flight from Houston to DC was delayed an hour, and the airline is saying that she canceled her last leg due to that delay. She says she did not.
I don't think she had an electronic boarding pass, as this was an international flight and she would need to show the paper at various checkpoints along the way, especially if she planned to use the first-class clubs at the airports.

Lost in eternity...lost in anonymity...lost in everlasting flames...and forever forgotten by the One Who died for her that she refused to acknowledge in her FIRST CLASS SEAT.
Well, I am married with four daughters, so I used to HATE driving anywhere! LOL! Actually, I always enjoyed driving with my family; we used to take the back roads (Hwy 75, instead of I-45 or Hwy 80, instead of I-20), etc...).
We used to stop and see the little towns and shops - even when our girls were young.
But most of my flights were work-related.
