Andrew McCabe, the FBIs deputy director who has been the target of Republican critics for more than a year, plans to retire in a few months when he becomes fully eligible for pension benefits, according to people familiar with the matter.
McCabe spent hours in Congress this past week, facing questions behind closed doors from members of three committees. Republicans said they were dissatisfied with his answers; Democrats called it a partisan hounding.
McCabe, 49, holds a unique position in the political firestorm surrounding the FBI. He was former director James B. Comeys right-hand man, a position that involved him in most of the FBIs actions that vex President Trump as well as the investigation of Hillary Clintons use of a private email server while secretary of state, a matter that still riles Democrats.

I have several friends who retired from the military at 38 with 20 years in, and 48 with 30 years.
I also have a friend who retired from the Birmingham, AL P.D. at 45, and started a second career as a trauma nurse.
Aww. Did the big mean Republicans hurt your feelings? Just because of a fake dossier? We sowwy.
If they started accumulating government pension time at age 19, then yes at 49. Also, don’t forget unused vacation time and other accumulated leave can be tagged on to the end of the career time.
This is disturbing.
You betcha.
President Trump says Merry Christmas to McCabe and Baker!
What government is that?
State, County, Local.
Because of Republican attacks...
Yeah, couldn’t be because he knows he’s in serious trouble for his actions.
The fact that Trump has no power to stop this tells you all you need to know about how its the WASHINGTONIANS against all the rest of of us.
The politicians from both parties, the federal apparatchiks, and the press all allied and absolutely committed to DESTROYING anyone who tries to stop their gravy train, paid for by money EXTORTED from hard working Americans
Short of nuking the place there is no solution to this problem.
Take that back, FBI being a “law enforcement” agency the LEOs would just be eligible after 25 years without reduction.
Who has been attacking him?
Facing Republican attacks. Yeah. No bias here.
I think that when age and years of service total 70 then you can retire and draw your pension.
With McCabe, his eligibility is 20 years of service and 50 years old. I think all fed LEOs have mandatory retirement at 57.
Most government has this kind of generosity. Just now noticing?
Also, don’t be fooled. Deputy Directors of the FBI all retire to the private sector when a new Director takes over. Claims that his retirement is out of fear or is some kind of punishment is just blogger wishful thinking. He’ll probably be making seven figures for a law firm by this time next year.
What a biased story. From what has been released, this man is so ethically challenged that he should be in jail.
So they are blaming his “retirement” on Republican harassment, when he’s really just trying to avoid anything else coming out and git while the gitten’s good. JMHO.
