I found that annoying. I think I became jaded listening to Vin Scully and Chick Hearn. Enberg was an amateur compared to them.

He, Billy Packer, and Al McGuire were the best college basketball announcing team ever, IMO.

Dick also hosted an NBC TV game show called "3 For The Money". Here's a clip from an episode of the show which had a very brief run in 1975.

Seems very sudden after being the Padres’ play-by-play man just a year or so ago. He was key to the growth of college basketball broadcasting in the 60s and 70s, then a great NFL announcer in the 80s and 90s. He once said baseball was his favorite sport to announce.

RIP Dick. A true professional.

Sorry to hear this. He knew when to stop speaking and let the play on the field do the talking. He also did not feel the need to espouse his political views. In other words, a true professional.
