The House gave the final stamp of approval Wednesday to a sweeping tax reform package, handing President Trump his first major legislative victory and most Americans a tax cut starting next year.
In a 224-201 vote, Congress sent the $1.5 trillion package to Trumps desk. The biggest rewrite of the federal tax code since the Reagan administration will usher in steep rate cuts for American companies, double the deduction millions of families claim on their annual returns and make a host of other changes taking effect in a matter of weeks.

I know you are joking because kind-hearted and patriotic and God loving and decent and willing to help people even strangers is not backwards
I’m from Staten Island, the conservative borrow but it is still cold. I offered a lady who just missed her bus and was screaming into the phone that she could get fired, a ride. She threatened to call the cops.
You must have been referring to the federal debt in that statement. Or that part of the statement. Or I was drunk which is likely answer LOL.
No good deed goes unpunished, dp.
But don’t stop trying!
Hey, that’s pretty! Stealin’ it.
All of the above. :)
LOL!
And people wonder why I use so many ####s!!
This place is tough.
One day I’ll tell you about the shot and bleeding black guy I drove in my cab.
He wasn’t that bad of a guy. His girlfriend had just shot him. Hit his side but just the flesh.
Write that book!
LOL!
Guess what!
The Tax act will eliminate dozens of special interest tax breaks and loopholes. Washington isnt spared, either:
..” Members of Congress will no longer be able to deduct living expenses.”.....
HAHAHAHAA!
I hope those weasels don’t find a way around it.
You KNOW they’ll try.
We should call them CROOKgressmen
.. Members of Congress will no longer be able to deduct living expenses......
(I hope those weasels dont find a way around it.)
Well...they tried as the process was being put into place...and failed. It passed!
Miracles are happening every day around here :)
I’m not crying about the state and local deductions being cut off.
I choose to live on Staten Island and the tax bill overall is good for the country.
And maybe, just maybe, these northern folks will start voting for tax Reduction, instead of increases, now that they can’t deduct.
I’ll be fine.
God Bless America
Actually, I just read a report that Virginia is loosing population for the first time.
“I know you are joking”
:-)
Actually, it seems Trump may delay signing the bill until January, which would keep the cuts from kicking in until 2019. This would be to make sure Medicare cuts didn’t happen in an election year. Trump is trying, but he still has to listen to experienced politicians because of all of the political nuances involved. The question is, will he do what he has promised, give America a Christmas present, or do what Republicans need if they are to retain majorities in Congress. So, will he do what he wants to do, or what makes sense for him to do.
This link explains the “Byrd Rule” which requires a revote for certain reasons listed in the article.

This highly detailed analysis shows many ways that one group of people benefits while others do not. I also gives details on how much more money certain Senators will get as a result of last minute undiscussed changes in the bill.

This site also discusses the revote and gives a list of provisions that are making it into the final House bill.
