Spare the rod, spoil the teacher?

We've come full circle on school discipline: Now students beat the teacher.

"City teachers pleaded with district administrators Monday to help support them as they deal with what they are calling an unprecedented level of misbehavior among children, some of which is resulting in physical violence against teachers," Felix Rodriguez Lima reported on Fox 43 from Harrisburg, Pa. on November 21, 2017. "The Harrisburg Education Association says the behavioral issues have prompted the resignations of at least 45 teachers between July and October, and further resignations have since occurred, according to association president Jody Barksdale."

"Some of the worst behavior has come from some of the district's youngest students. Amanda Sheaffer, a first-grade teacher in the district for four years, described the bad behavior she has seen."

"'I have been hit, I have been kicked, I have been restrained from behind where I’ve been unable to move my arms,' she said. 'It really throws off the whole day.'"

"'I mean, you have an incident happen and you have to do a room clear, get all the students out, and then after that you have to take the time to do the write-up, and you have to make sure security comes and gets the kids.'"

You might rather walk a mile in these public teacher's shoes than set a foot inside their classroom.

They just discipline the poor kids chemically, now. As if that is somehow superior to an occasional swat.

I’ll never forget my Dad telling me that when he started the 7th grade, if a boy didn’t show up at his (public) school with a coat and tie, the principal would send him home to put one on.

Times are a little different....

Public schools have long been little hells in a number of ways.

The much grieved departure of religious readings was, IMHO, the removal of a fig leaf. If that was all that was vying to send God into the schools, it had already failed.

The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA, an NEA affiliate) is a huge supporter of Governor Tommie ("the Commie") Wolf.

Supporter as in jock strap, if you catch my drift.

I don’t what these school admins and teachers expect when they have taught these kids that they come from monkeys instead of being created in the image of God , they tell them not to listen to their parents , they try to get them to snitch on their parents , they have the kids put on drugs because they want them to behave like little robots .
They act like a pack of animals because they have been taught that AT SCHOOL by TEACHERS

Suddenly teachers are concerned. These kids have been doing this to their classmates and younger kids for decades in the Harrisburg school system. The time to put a stop to this was when it started, which was in the late 1960’s.

What they won’t say is the race of most of those involved. Since liberals decided that minorities are being disciplined because of race, then the little hellions now know they can get away with murder. If anything bad happens to them, they claim discrimination.

Of course, the government schools have been in decline for many years. Government can’t manage a 2-car funeral, let alone education or health care or much of anything else.

Ghetto schools are doomed, especially since they are now staffed by ‘hoodrats themselves. A teacher in Paterson NJ was recorded this year; she resigned this month:

“The video shows the teacher screaming at the student, saying that she would get someone to “cap your ass,” a street phrase for shooting someone. “I’ll call my n-—ers,” yelled the teacher, who is African-American, using a racial epithet. “I got n-—ers, too.” The teacher also called the student a “dumba—.”

More Paterson schools in the news: “More than 98 percent of the students at six Paterson high schools failed to attain passing math scores in this year’s standardized state tests, according to statistics released at Wednesday night’s Board of Education meeting. At Eastside High’s government and public administration academy, five students among the 593 who took the tests achieved passing scores in math, the report shows. The results were worse at Eastside’s culinary academy, where two students among 584 met proficiency levels in math.”

Remember that inspiring Morgan Freeman movie (”Lean on Me”)? That was Eastside in Paterson...

After her initial outburst, the teacher said, “I need five minutes to calm down.”

As an urban high school teacher all I can do is shrug. You cannot do anything to these kids, especially protected groups. I frequently tell my suburban friends about my school experiences, I find they don’t believe me, or at least I’m exaggerating. Throwing chairs, screaming at each other at the teacher, taking hits on vapes, just getting up and leaving the classroom in mass groups, entering a classroom in session in mass groups, refusing to sit down, profanity you’ve never heard. This is just IN THE CLASSROOM, the behavior out in the halls and the grounds is worse. There is NO accountability, no discipline. Our test scores are rock bottom and the news and “big deals” blame the teachers, or poverty. I just keep my head down and wait out the 3 more years. At one time I did try to make a difference and I was always on the carpet on the verge of losing my job, (and in reality, there is no such thing as a teacher’s union, most are merely extensions of the administrative wing). So, lesson learned, just keep them from killing each other.

Wow, I would be afraid to go to work every day if I were you. As they say in dangerous situations - stay alert, stay alive.

You have to wonder about the parent(s) of these kids. Do they not care or are they resigned to the situation? I would move heaven and earth to get my kid out of a school like this.
