” but I don’t think actual criminal investigations like for their targets to be called before Congress”

Congress is superior to any investigator. Since congress can defund them and pass a law closing down the investigator’s office. Congress can abolish the FBI and impeach any judge who impedes this.

So yeah, even if investigators don’t like it, Congress is first if it wants to be. You don’t let the DOJ tail wag the dog.

Listen you jerk!

One of our Sr. Exec’s was canned for including a few too many details in his staff notes.

HE had sources in that session, as we were the offended contractor, and it was his program.

This is playing out just the way it should

First Ohr and McCabe refuse to show up for a Congressional oversight hearing as a job responsibility and. condition of employment is both a firing offense and a good way to incriminate yourself and destroy your credibility in the court of public opinion - the forum where political cases are won or lost.

Next comes formal subpoenas where the guys will have to assert the 5th

Not a happy place to be for guys in their positions

“...refused to even show up.... Isn’t this his second time?”

Well, that explains it.

If there were no consequences the first time, why bother?

Great IDEA!

Give Ohr THE MANNAFORT TREATMENT.

Oh, I forgot, only the FBI has kick azz authority. Congress can only issue subpoenas and refer the no-shows to the Justice Department, for enforcement and prosecution action.

“out the back door to the Russians for cash and diamonds.”

If you aren’t a Brussels diamond merchant, only a booger eating moron would accept diamonds as payment for anything. Diamonds are a literal cartel, sitting there on a mountain of diamonds, eking out a small supply designed to keep prices very high on a common commodity.

The system is not designed to buy them back. Your bag of diamonds is only useful for getting laid.... maybe.

I think you’re the only one who gets it. 50 posts in, and you’re the first to get it.

Amazing isn’t it. Gowdy has been saying the same thing until he’s horse, for years. No one is listening. They keep screaming, as if that will change the Constitution and the law.

Yes.

The Sergeant-at Arms of the Senate can arrest anyone who violates Senate rules, including the President.

I would assume, theoretically, that any federal law enforcement officer with arrest capabilities *COULD* arrest a sitting President; however, from a practicality viewpoint, it would likely need to be a Secret Service agent.
