Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed had a problem.
How do you feed thousands of stranded airline passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with no electricity.
It turns out the answer was pretty simple: call Chick-fil-A.
Normally Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays so employees can attend church and spend time with their families.

But when the lights went out at the international airport the mayor needed immediate help in feeding folks with no place to go. So he called Dan Cathy, the chief executive officer of Chick-fil-A.
Spokesperson Amanada Hannah tells me the famed, fast-food chicken restaurant quickly mobilized staff and team members who live near the airport.
They are making sandwiches and delivering them to the emergency operations center, she said. City and airport officials there are distributing sandwiches to passengers who are stranded due to the power outage.
I have to imagine a delicious, Chick-fil-A sandwich will certainly boost the spirits of airline passengers who have been stuck in a dark airport since Sunday afternoon.
It has been a very difficult day for thousands of travelers, Hannah told me. And while Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sunday, our restaurants open occasionally to serve communities in need.
Thats why we love Chick-fil-A. It is their pleasure to serve folks who need a helping hand.
We do not make a profit but do what we can to offer comfort to people experiencing hardship, she said.
Thank you, Chick-fil-A for serving a delicious chicken sandwich and for serving your communities. God bless you all.
A reading or rereading of Luke 6:31-35 might do many a whole lot of good in this context.
You do not understand Chik Fil A or the Cathy family. This is not a or stint. It is who they are. It is how they run their lives
Do you know what costs them money? Not being open on Sundays. Yet that decision was made based on their faith.
We always stop at these places when we travel. I like ‘em because the kids that work there smile at you when you walk in.
No less a sophisticate than Esquire Mag named Chick-fil-a one of the nation's best sandwiches.
ESQUIRE REVIEW You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere, which may explain your low expectations. Boneless breast. Bun. Blah. But down south, there lives an eye-opener.
A come-to-Jesus sandwich. The Chick-fil-A. Seasoned, breaded breast served on a toasted buttered bun with dill- pickle slices. No mayo. No sauce at all. Deceptively simple, yet transcendent. The hook is the breading: spicy, with an intoxicating crunch.
The meat is always juicy, never chewy. The bun is like lingerie -- there, but not, providing delicious support without obscuring the main flavor. The first bite changes everything you think you know about chicken. And about the need for condiments. -- Allison Glock

A fews years back, we went into a Chick-fil-A during a week before Christmas (just like now). It was very busy, full of shoppers, retired folks, chidren, etc.
A staff member greeted us at the door with a smile. Over the loud speakers we could hear Christmas carols.
As we struggled to find a place to sit, other customers who saw us and were finished offered up their table. Before we could even take them up on their offer, two more groups of people offered their table. Immediately, the staff began cleaning the first table for us.
Then the manager started going around, handing out gift cards for one free sandwhich.
And in a world of corporations who have don't take a stand on morality and have accomodated every type of perversion, Chick-fil-A took a courageous stand against homosexuality and sin.
Google "Chick-fil-A Christian" and look at the images. You will see examples of homosexual's and liberal's anger at them for doing so.
Its not a PR stun to do what is the right thing to do.
CHARACTER is doing the right thing when nobody is looking. Even if it only causes two liberals to rethink their biases, then they will tell two others, and they will tell two . . . .
To me, this is nothing short of more divine intervention.
Do you want to know the secret to their breading?
It has confectionary sugar in the flour mix. It also has Kosher salt and black pepper mixed in with the flour, but the sugar gives it that flavor everyone loves.

True.
I have made a variation at home using my deep fryer, and that is the secret ingredient. It is spot on. Some copycat recipes use a little more sugar than others.
+1. And bitch because it wasn’t hot enough.
Let me suggest that intent is typically precisely what its actor says it is. If a Christian acts to be charitable it is not necessary to question their motivation. They actually believe doing the right thing gets the best results.
Thanks for posting this. Got an air-fryer and am going to make these tonight! I love the breading on Chick-fil A sandwiches.
That makes them all the better in the eyes of people. Making the Leftists eat crow while feeding chicken to people in genuine need is a two-fer!
The article says that the mayor asked them for help. Guessing Altanta city funds will be used to compensate them.
I frequently shoot with a local CFA manager, friendly enough that we know each other’s kids names and which one got engaged last month, and my impression is that it’s not a stunt when he does it. Often CFA’s actions don’t even make the news. I won’t share the examples he’s shared with me, but it’s a Christian thing when he works on a Sunday, and it’s always a heartwarming story. They also make no effort to get publicity when they do it, and I agree with his reasoning there - again, it’s in the Bible.
When it came time to go off to college, their Chick-fil-A experience got them their first job on campus without an interview as well.
That's how it goes when you find nice kids and train nice kids.
I don’t think God will bless them based on your recommendation. I will suggest that they saw a need and stepped up to the plate in good fashion.

Their commercials are fumnny to boot
Sadly, cynicism has infected our society to the point where nearly everyone will take the actions of a Christian business and infer nothing more than capitalistic motivations. That a company like Chik-Fil-A would out of Christian Charity see a need and want to fill it, do so because they truly believe in what you say: doing the right thing - because it's the right thing to do (not because it's a "p.r. stunt" to lead to higher profits) - and because it gets the right results.
Sad that so many people's eyes these days are way too short to see that.
ok, but the fat and sodium levels in the recipe are quite high.
