Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed had a problem.
How do you feed thousands of stranded airline passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with no electricity.
It turns out the answer was pretty simple: call Chick-fil-A.
Normally Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays so employees can attend church and spend time with their families.

But when the lights went out at the international airport the mayor needed immediate help in feeding folks with no place to go. So he called Dan Cathy, the chief executive officer of Chick-fil-A.
Spokesperson Amanada Hannah tells me the famed, fast-food chicken restaurant quickly mobilized staff and team members who live near the airport.
They are making sandwiches and delivering them to the emergency operations center, she said. City and airport officials there are distributing sandwiches to passengers who are stranded due to the power outage.
I have to imagine a delicious, Chick-fil-A sandwich will certainly boost the spirits of airline passengers who have been stuck in a dark airport since Sunday afternoon.
It has been a very difficult day for thousands of travelers, Hannah told me. And while Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sunday, our restaurants open occasionally to serve communities in need.
Thats why we love Chick-fil-A. It is their pleasure to serve folks who need a helping hand.
We do not make a profit but do what we can to offer comfort to people experiencing hardship, she said.
Thank you, Chick-fil-A for serving a delicious chicken sandwich and for serving your communities. God bless you all.
I remember when the liberals tried to boycott Chik-fil-A. We waited in line over an hour to buy food there were so many people supporting them.
Having spent 12 hours sleeping on my luggage in JFK, I feel for these people.
A great family owned company that always does it right
Their food is good to boot. Their chicken nugget like meal is awesome. Actual chicken and not processed ground crap. Actual chicken. Tasty tasty stuff. (Go with their buffalo sauce)
Don’t worry. Democrats will still hate Chick-Fil-A. Even as they scarf down their food.
Where's the other fast food jernts?
Nobody is buying a big-ass bucket of chicken with side dishes that contain a bunch of processed crap in it anymore. I mean, give me a break. I can make the same chicken and cook the same side dishes at about the cost of a KFC dinner, and since I live alone, that food I can save in the freezer. People got places to go and they want to eat on the run or quickly. That's where Chick Fil A came in and seized the market.
Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich
I understand your cynicism in this day and time, but this is not a PR stunt by Chick-fil-A. It is a part of the culture that Truett Cathy instilled, and which Dan, Bubba and Trudy continue to nurture. Most of their good deeds are not seen or recognized, but are done for the glory of God and not for the praise of men. That's how Chick-fil-A operates.
Been my favorite the past couple of years. I love that sandwich.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I had one. The cravings have begun.
Like I said, I appreciate what they do. But you have to admit that it has the appearance of pandering to the left. Some people say that "perception is reality". I am strongly against that saying and got in trouble on the job for telling my boss exactly that.
If you can truly tell me one hundred percent that Chik Fil A gives away hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions a year for purely altruistic reasons rather than to counterattack the lefts propaganda, then I'm with you.
I guess I'm still pissed off at the gays over their disgusting tactics re: Chik Fil A.
Which begs the question. Never mind the other fast food jernts. Where is the gay lobby and LFAG groups? How come we don't read about them helping out people in crisis. They don't even help out their own.
Anyway, good for Chik Fil A and God bless them, as he surely will.
Often the company simply donated the costs of the meals and labor, but the city may reimburse them since they own the airport.
Mighty nice of Chik-fil-A, and far tastier than anything passengers could buy at most airport restaurants.
I bet the decision to work on Sunday wasn’t a big one. Recalling Jesus healing the guy on the Sabbath, and the Pharisees said that was wrong as it was work. Jesus replied something like “And if one of your sheep falls into a well - surely you would get it out. How much more important are people than the sheep.”
Standing room only all the way out in the parking lot at our local Chick-fil-A during the liberal boycott. I’ll stop in for breakfast tomorrow and say thanks.
Are you trying to ascertain their, "intent"? Jim Comey, is that you?
I bought a chicken sandwich meal the other day at Chic-Fil-A. After I was done eating the manager passed out extra chicken biscuits that they had made when breakfast ended. So I had free food for my dinner while at work. The manager could have just thrown the food out but chose to share it.
In this context, intent is relevant. In the case of FBI v. Hillary Clinton, it was not. As we always suspected and now know, intent was not an element of the crime and Comey made that up in order to clear a criminal.
So no, I would say I'm the exact opposite of James Comey.
