Sessions needs to stop the misuse of intelligence for politics
NY Post ^ | Dec 17, 2017 | Michael Goodwin

In hindsight, the most important thing said this year came on Jan. 3. Chuck Schumer, leader of Senate Democrats, warned President-elect Trump he would pay a price for disputing intelligence officials’ findings of Russian meddling.

“Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer declared.

Schumer was right about a vendetta, but wrong about timing. It’s now clear that intelligence officials already had started “getting back” at the next commander in chief.

They started in the summer of 2016.

In early August, Mike Morell, who was acting head of the CIA under Barack Obama, broke with agency tradition by entering the political fray to endorse Hillary Clinton.

He praised her as “highly qualified” and said Trump was “not only unqualified for the job, but he may well pose a threat to our national security.”

Disclaimer: I didn’t ping the list to display the rude and useless quibbling on this thread - I referenced the original article.

People on this forum should remember that we’re all on the same side, and name-calling and bullying other members just drives good people away in disgust..

There are obviously two opinions on Sessions’ abilities and performance.. just politely agree to disagree and stop the bashing.

So again, the only explanation to Session’s job performance is ‘we don’t know the extent of what he is doing behind the scenes’? I’d love to believe that, but the idea this farce has gone on this long and is getting worse tells me his work behind the scenes is helping the opposition rather than Trump or the people that elected him.

I’m arguing from what is known. You’re pinning all your hopes on the assumption that Sessions is only selling us down the river in public; behind the scenes he’s working against his public statements. There’s no evidence that you’re right, only wishful thinking.

Your premise that we should know about everything the attorney general does...

You've confused me with someone else. I never said that at all.

My position is that there's no evidence that Jeff Sessions has done a single thing to address or investigate any of the historic treason that has been uncovered in our government.

In fact, there's little evidence that he's ever done a single day's work as AG.

Your trust and faith in this man is terribly misplaced.

His recusal from everything has casused great harm to Trump’s agenda and to a good man, Fylnn.

We know only what others want us to know.

I say there is more going on that we do not know then what we think we know.

So if we assume your premise is sound, what would be a reasonable amount of nondisclosure for the work of the AG?

Or should he always reveal everything he’s doing? (I don’t think any of you would argue this, but who knows.)

We should not assume Sessions is doing the opposite in private of what he’s doing in public. In public he’s excusing the inexcusable as pertains to the FBI. It would be irrational to assume he’s doing the opposite in private.

Also, Sessions has praised Rosenstein in public, while it is Rosenstein who has let Mueller get completely out of control—to the point of breaking the law to feed his anti-Trump obsession. There is no reason to believe Sessions is singing Rosenstein’s praises in public while trying to rein him in in private.

...should he always reveal everything he’s doing?

A common liberal debate tactic, is to ask a question that implies your opponent has made an assertion that they did not make.

This is the second time you've employed that tactic with me, in this conversation.

Again - I contend that there's no evidence that Jeff Sessions is doing anything to address or respond to the unmitigated, attempted coup d'etat that is currently unfolding before our eyes.

In fact, every bit of circumstantial evidence points to a near certainty that he is actively aiding and abetting these traitors by sitting on his hands while they reverse the result of a legal election, and take down a duly elected president who is guilty of NO crimes.

If Sessions were merely doing his job, we would be witnessing the positive effects of that - even if he didn't say a word to the press, or reveal anything about his work behind the scenes.

Well, what have we witnessed, besides an interminable march toward impeachment by Mueller and his gang of co-conspirators?

Answer: NOTHING - which means that Sessions is AWOL, or he's in on it.

Nobody said Sessions is “doing the opposite.”

He’s simply doing what every AG has done. It’s called not talking about highly sensitive investigations.

It would be impossible to take down the creep state without doing most of it in secret. That’s all.

“If Sessions were merely doing his job, we would be witnessing the positive effects of that”

Not when the effects take many months, and not when indictments haven’t been unsealed yet.

Unless Sessions is doing the opposite in private of what he’s saying in public, then the purpose of his behind-the-scenes sensitive investigations is to exonerate the anti-Trumpers.

How can a sealed indictment have any effect until it’s unsealed?

Well, it would be entirely reasonable to think Sessions would be using psychological tactics in an operation this complex.

What sense does it make to think this is a simple and straightforward operation?

The layers of filth and scum produced by the creep state are very deep.

These people are superficially very intelligent, and they appear clean to the casual observer.

But deep down they are filthy in the most disgusting ways, and their minds are ultimately like those of common beasts crawling in the dirt.

That wouldn’t be because they are all LAWYERS would it?

Good catch. There seems to be a connection.

But I did know a lawyer long ago who tried very hard to conduct his life according to the highest morals.

Not so for creep state pedophiles.

Sessions is not 007. He recused himself for apparently no reason, Rosenstein instantly appointed a Trump hater to investigate a non-crime, and Mueller has been out of control ever since. Sessions is a disaster.

“He recused himself for apparently no reason”

Think very carefully about why you used the word “apparently” in your post to me.

(It’s because you’re a writer, and you’re careful with words.)
