We should not assume Sessions is doing the opposite in private of what he’s doing in public. In public he’s excusing the inexcusable as pertains to the FBI. It would be irrational to assume he’s doing the opposite in private.

Also, Sessions has praised Rosenstein in public, while it is Rosenstein who has let Mueller get completely out of control—to the point of breaking the law to feed his anti-Trump obsession. There is no reason to believe Sessions is singing Rosenstein’s praises in public while trying to rein him in in private.

Nobody said Sessions is “doing the opposite.”

He’s simply doing what every AG has done. It’s called not talking about highly sensitive investigations.
