Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has threatened to vote against the tax bill, putting the legislation in danger of being delayed past Christmas.
Rubio has told Senate leaders that he will vote against the bill unless the child tax credit is made more generous to help lower-income workers who pay payroll taxes and not regular income taxes.
Sen. Rubio has consistently communicated to the Senate tax negotiators that his vote on final passage would depend on whether the refundability of the Child Tax Credit was increased in a meaningful way, said a spokesperson for Rubio.
If Rubio votes against the bill, Republicans can only lose one other lawmaker if they hope to pass the final bill that emerges from a House-Senate conference. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) previously voted against the Senate tax bill because it would add $1.5 billion to the deficit, and no Democrats support it.
Corker has not ruled out voting for the final conference report, though he suggested his concerns have not changed.

Right? People think this is just about illegals. I have 4 kids. Stand strong Marco!
Little Rubio is outing himself again as a political hack; that’s my opinion.
All the political hacks are outing themselves and have been since President Trump announced his intention to run. Now, We The People have to make sure these hacks are exposed and defeated. Taking the turds out of the DC sewer so to speak.
And, of course, its $2,000.00 PER CHILD/ANCHOR BABY). Is there no friggin end to the amount we pay the invaders?
Your boy Marco at it again.
Finally and yes, you deserve to keep more of YOUR hard earned money for your family.. Tunnel vision ideology focused on punishing illegals and welfare recipients that abuse the system shouldn’t also rip off and deprive hard working American’s who play by the rules.
Fix the broken systems and pass a tax bill that lets citizens hold onto their own money instead of feeding it to the leviathan federal government.
Happy Holidays to you, your family, and your children!
Marco is talking about REFUNDABLE credits. That is refunding of taxes paid that were not actually paid.
By the way, I want YOU and other responsible LEGAL American taxpayers to have MORE kids. And I want you to get the tax credit for each and every one of those kids AS LONG AS THE TOTAL CREDITS DONT EXCEED THE TAXES YOU OWE.
Rubio’s “patriotic” statements during the campaign are belied by his actual actions. His loyalty is to Hispanics, not to America. The child tax credit is fraught with corruption and misuse, a lot by illegals. To support expanding it just gives more funds to illegals and other Hispanics. Like so many programs whose origins are good, this tax credit has become just another form of abused welfare. Rubio is pathetic.
I understand but we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Those systems are broken and need to be fixed. I am taxed over and beyond many tens of thousands and letting me keep $6,000 for my children’s benefit is in no way depriving anyone else.
Don’t punish EVERYONE because some people have broken the law. Reform welfare and get the illegals OUT! Don’t use the tax bill to punish all families.
Don’t you have kids? Or have family trying to raise children? This could help everyone including all Americans who chose LIFE over PP.
This guy is a Communist.
A scumbag Communist.
Given the immense damage he has (attempted) to inflict on this nation it must be considered that he is a Castro-agent. No one else could be this deliberately stupid, this is treason
____________
And helping punkly Ryan.
Sorry, but you simply dont understand the issue Little Marco wants to foist on us. WITHOUT Little Marcos change included youll get your $6,000 reduction (2K per child) in the taxes you have to pay. Hes not the originator of the credit. Little Marco wants to give refunds for taxes not paid and not limited to the reduction of taxes otherwise due.
Ive had my share of kids And would have even more if my wife was willing which she is not. And the first wave of my kids are giving us grandchildren.
Please study this issue a little more to increase your understanding of it.
full-throated conservative?
He is full throated conservative. The problem is he is not one to take action on conservative issues :-). He’s “full action” amnesty and wants a working slave wage class here in the USA for his own greedy needs.
Anyone can talk like a “full throated” conservative. Liberals in purple states do it all of the time. It’s the votes and actions that count.
So, yes, Little Marco is a “Full Throated” conservative :-). In some languages, he’s also called a “Fulluvshite” conservative :-).
Little Marco needs his diaper changed! BTW, where are the AMEX receipts?
I understand it perfectly well and have a friendly disagreement with you sir. Your taxes won’t be going up any more if this is included in the bill. Hard working families would simply have to pay less to the greedy government. It is clear and easy to understand that some Conservatives are arguing that the government keeps more tax dollars rather than giving them back to those who earned the money, in my case.
Nope.
Collins, Snow, McStain, Flake, Corker, Marco; any two of those 6 say “Nah” after they tell McTurtle they are on board and no tax bill for this year.
They GOPe wing of the Uniparty WANTS to be able to say Trump is 0-fer 2017. They’ll use that 0-fer to make sure us riff-raff that actually vote don’t start getting delusions of grandeur that we actually matter. Because in their world...
None of us do.
Unless you can put 7 figures in their pet PAC or put their smiling face next to your smiling face on the next MSM puff piece.
And I will not only remember this little snot, but all 534 of the other whores that slime up Capitol Hill.
The child tax credit is not the EIT credit. The child tax credit includes practically everyone with children under 18.
“The child tax credit is not the EIT credit. “
The ONLY, and I do mean ONLY difference is income level.
The original of EITC was the extension of the Child Tax Credit to those who pay no taxes.
That is literally the only difference.
You ask too much to subject those poor girls to you in only an apron.
