MeganC had nothing to do with this post. She thinks she's part of the BlogPolice.
So, I believe you meant, "Bravo!"
ML/NJ
I see you rewrite political history too.
Yes, the votes were there just fine until these accusations came out. Moore was polled 15 points ahead or more of Doug Jones. Moore was going to win decisively till these accusations came out, and party officials used them as an excuse to dump him.
They would rather lose than have a man who espouses Moores beliefs and attitude in the Senate.
Moore was not a "flawed candidate". He was a perfectly good candidate that was torpedoed from both sides of the Uniparty running Washington.
Roy Moore's speaking ability or inability did not cost him the election. Unprovable accusations and subsequent abandonment and condemnation by his "allies" are what cost the election.
What do you call it when the establishment suddenly pulls out all support, implies the chosen candidate is a "child molester" and "rapist", and urges people to vote for the Democrat?
Et tu Brute?
They weren't sitting in boardrooms with Rockefellers or vacationing in Maine with the Bushes or reorganizing corporations with Romney.
Moore lost enough votes from ordinary Alabama Republicans to lose the election.
Second, the Alabama GOP stood by Moore, so far as I can see, though Washington Republicans didn't.
And Moore was running as an anti-Establishment maverick: it was to be expected that he'd alienate the party Establishment in Washington.
If he hadn't been a #flawedcandidate, he would have won and maybe picked up votes by campaigning against the Washington Establishment and the DC Swamp.
Moore was not a "flawed candidate". He was a perfectly good candidate that was torpedoed from both sides of the Uniparty running Washington.
Voters in his state didn't think so.
Very Conservative...and politically sharp.
He will never run for political office....because he doesn't want the anal exam.
And the potential B.S. that the left will throw.
I don't blame him one bit....
Women are going to receive what they have been sold and they paid for or in biblical terms they will reap what they have sown. They are not going to enjoy it. One old line of advice that keeps popping into my mind now is, “Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.”
If Trump quoted scripture in every other sentence, he wouldn’t be president, yet he has done more for Christians than anyone lately. Lesson learned.
The “establishment” was much more against candidate Trump! From the Bushes down to McCain, Graham and even Cruz called him vile names. Trump beat the establishment with charm & charisma & ability to attract massive audiences for his rallies. Sadly, Moore has none of those abilities.
Politics is hardball. Candidates win because they can sway the masses. Candidates seldom win based on agenda alone.
Exactly. Would you hang out with him? Better yet, if you did, would you be comfortable bringing up something he disagreed with?
this is exactly why we need the FCC to immediately implement ala carte programming so we can be unhitched from the evil mainstream media. This is why they are surviving (thriving); because their lobbyists work overtime to keep ala carte programming from happening so we are FORCED to continue to support their crap.
The minute separate programming is allowed is the minute they file bankruptcy
And how massive was the vote fraud during November 2016 election? I would say higher by orders of magnitude than in Alabama December 2017, because Alabama actually has a better voting system than most states.
Why is it hard to admit that Moore lacked the charisma of Trump to attract voters? 90% of voters are not political junkies, who know how candidates stand on every issue.
Agreed. every single person in news turned against Roy, including every one of them at fox. A bunch of turncoat trash, they are.
he blew it out in the primary so you’re completely wrong. it was the FALSE allegations, funded and promulgated by mcconnell, then repeated over and over and over by all the news outlets, including (and especially) fox news.
They weren't sitting in boardrooms with Rockefellers or vacationing in Maine with the Bushes or reorganizing corporations with Romney.
Nobody implied that they were.
Moore lost enough votes from ordinary Alabama Republicans to lose the election.
To a large extent as a result of party officials behaving exactly as if the accusations were true. Not only did they pull support while declaring him reprehensible, they urged people to vote for Doug Jones. Shelby urged them to "write in" a candidate, and coincidentally this record number of "write in" votes would have given Moore the victory.
Second, the Alabama GOP stood by Moore, so far as I can see, though Washington Republicans didn't.
This is absolutely right.
And Moore was running as an anti-Establishment maverick: it was to be expected that he'd alienate the party Establishment in Washington.
Attacking him as a reprobate goes way beyond acknowledging that someone is in opposition to your policy positions. They don't even hit Democrats that hard. They were out for blood with Roy Moore. He was more than just someone with whom they disagreed on policy positions, they treated him like a serious threat.
If he hadn't been a #flawedcandidate, he would have won and maybe picked up votes by campaigning against the Washington Establishment and the DC Swamp.
Again, the evidence shows the polls were running in his favor by 15 percentage points or More, and you think some flaw (from the perspective of the people of Alabama) was suddenly noticed by them, and it is this "flaw" which caused his loss?
He lost by about 1.5%. Is it remotely possible that it was not his character flaws that cost him that 1.5%, but could it have been unprovable accusations of rape and child molestation which the Party officials acted like were true, that did the trick instead?
Seriously, I am at a loss as to how people can say "flawed candidate" instead of "Accusations of child molestation and rape."
I can't see how anyone can say it with a straight face anyways.
Not that I disagree with your approach. I'm just not counting on anyone else to help us out at this point.
Its not hard
That doesnt mean it didnt happen
Some Accusations against Trump in 2016 election:
He is a liberal who contributes to democrats.
He never served in military.
He boasted about how easy it was to grope women.
He was pro-abortion before he was pro-life.
He had zero elective experience.
He had 3 marriages.
He never published his tax returns.
blah blah blah....
But Trump overcame the fierce opposition by 16 establishment candidates with ability to keep massive audiences eating out of his hand with rally speeches. He counter-punched every attack with gusto. Moore could not and did not.
