After years of strong gains in states across the country, Republicans now fear they stand to lose hundreds of state legislative seats in next years midterm elections if there is a significant voter backlash against President Trump.
Any losses would come at the worst time: Just ahead of the redistricting process that begins with the 2020 census.

And yet an anti-establishment candidate just lost to a dem in Alabama, of all places. Yes there were the allegations and so forth, but this being Alabama should have negated that. All sorts of analysis can be made. None of it will dampen my concern that a liberal dem won in Alabama.
“Yep, I predict massive losses for Republicans in 2018. As long as McConnell and Ryan are steering the HMS Political Titanic they have assured a collision with an iceberg.”
The GOP is deliberatly AIMING FOR the iceberg.
He will never vote with them unless he’s not needed. Look and Manchin. Not one ounce of help and it won’t change
“We, however, will end up in chains.”
I think that is why robroy’swoman quoted Patrick Henry re: Give me liberty or give me death.
Remember, Henry’s words just before that phrase referenced chains and slavery.
I echo Henry’s words, as well.
Even my local Republican Party(s) are kind of strange... this last year I met some Bernie crossdressers and some obvious Democrat plants at the party headquarters in one place... and at my other home... the Republicans ran an anti-Trump progressive liber-tard-ian woman who lost to Leon Puñetta’s idiot kid...
This makes it kind of futile to be involved at all, because no matter what you think, what you work for, or what you vote for, they simply don’t give a damn.

Not a significant voter backlash against Trump.
Republicans didn’t and won’t give us a reason to vote FOR them.
When you understand why I would do it, it does.
I once threw a hard drive on the concrete. I seemed completely calm when I did it. My wife asked me why I did it. My response:
I was spending way too much time trying to repair it when I could just get a new one with lots more space for fifty bucks. By smashing it on the concrete I made it unrepairable, to the temptation to fix it was gone. In the 20 years we’ve been married she’s seen me do that to several things. It’s become a fun ritual for us. :)
I use that story as an analogy.
LSD is a hell of a drug.
Lunacy.
Long, but very good explanation:

I don’t know about the Virginia House of Delegates, but running a GOPe guy for governor who was a Gorge W. Bush / Karl Rove / Never Trumper didn’t help.
Taxation without representation!
No, they don't. If they did, they would be working hard. They are trying to create deep losses so they can allow the Democrats to impeach Trump. They are all on the same team... the political elite team.
Which GOPeers are in fear?
We need to know so they can go spend more time with their family.
Fear or yearn?
As long as bitch McConnell and his crew are in charge, Conservatives will ride in the back of the bus.
Yep and the do-nothings won’t even do what NEEDS to be done and that’s forcing that no count POS to step down from his leadership position and put someone in there that will kick azz and take names.........that is if there is any such person in the Republican party up on Crapitol Hell.......I’m sick of them!!!
When have the Republicans NOT feared deep losses when they win? It is in their DNA.
Yep, McConnell and Ryan et al are traitorous bastards and they are dividing the GOP. I can’t imagine what their motivation is to save my soul, but if they want to keep their jobs they will change their ways
Which I doubt they will. Whatever happened to the limited govt conservative GOP I don’t know. I guess all these jerks are on the take, or being blackmailed . . or both.
As well they should. But not to Democrats, as it will be to conservatives.
Exactly. And Manchin is a great example. Yet the GOP Chairman is quoted as saying he hopes Jones will vote with Republicans. So the RINOs actually think that they are owed some payment for all the work they invested in helping to elect Jones.
Yeah, Jones will vote with Republicans only when it absolutely has no bearing or meaning on any outcome. Even then, McConnell will still help his buddy Jones by giving Jones some meaningless procedural vote to help Jones demonstrate to the gullible that he is "independent".
