A supposed "rising star" at the State Department has resigned in anger over President Trump's and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's policies.
Elizabeth Shackelford gave her resignation letter to the left-leaning Foreign Policy magazine, which was, of course, all too happy to publish it. Shackelford's letter says she believes the new administration has abandoned human rights as a priority and shows disdain for the State Department's diplomatic work.
"I have deep respect for the career Foreign and Civil Service staff who, despite the stinging disrespect this Administration has shown our profession, continue the struggle to keep our foreign policy on the positive trajectory necessary to avert global disaster in increasingly dangerous times," she writes in the letter she sent on November 7. "With each passing day, however, this task grows more futile, driving the Departments experienced and talented staff away in ever greater numbers."

Well, I suppose it's a start anyways. Perhaps for Christmas we could see a stampede of angry "rising stars" leaving State. Is that too much to hope for?
I guess they were brought on one-at-a-time, so maybe they can leave that way, too. Rising star, pfffffffft-fizzle!
It will take some time, though; maybe enough like Shackleford though and an avalanche may follow?
Drain that swamp!
say it again!
What libs call talent, I call partisan hackiness
/// That’s not what I want the State Dept to prioritize.///
Beat me to it. I want the State Dept. to protect the U.S. from foreign invasion first, through diplomacy supported by the military, and then secondly, to pursue our national interests abroad through any means appropriate.
Good. The more of these career America-Hating turds that go, the better off we will be.
Amen!
But I worry about how many files this person may have swiped to pass on to our enemies foreign and domestic.
Elizabeth Shackelford’s complaint seems to be that military thinking rather than tree hugging is taking over in Somalia. In reality, it is about time. Something has to be done to eliminate the influence of Al Shabaab, and her touchy-feely approach has not worked. The Pentagon announcement about three months ago that the US was about to support the beleaguered Somalia government was received with applause in Mogadiscu, but not among Shackelford and her colleagues at State.
Thanks for posting this good news.
The basic educational problem in this country (actually worldwide) is that we no longer teach one of the fundamental tenets of business - EVERYONE is expendable. No matter how brilliant, well-educated, or valuable to the organization we tend to assume we are, there is someone, somewhere who can do your job. Much as we’d like to believe an organization will feel the pain of our resignation, it won’t. As good as it feels to write that “opus” citing all the very best reasons for our departure, the organization won’t change and whatever contribution we may have made to its success is quickly forgotten. This woman’s fatal mistake is in stroking her own ego and believing anyone really gives a damn if she resigns.
More winning!
Winning! They are leaving of their own accord.
What a prime loser. Probably, she should be arrested for some of her illegal actions.
Yur welcome.
Only one? Call me when we reach a couple dozen.
A swamp that self drains. How wonderful !
Well there goes 7 years of stellar ground breaking progress on human rights in Somalia.
Indeed. ‘Human rights’ is code for the homosexual agenda, at least in large part, and under Obama homosexualizing Africa was a top priority.
