Chris McDaniel is keeping a close eye on the U.S. Senate race in neighboring Alabama as he mulls whether to mount his own Trump-style bid to challenge Sen. Roger F. Wicker in the Republican primary in Mississippi next year.
Since then, Donald Trumps stunning presidential victory and Alabama Republican Roy Moores bid for a Senate seat have told Mr. McDaniel that the Washington establishment is still missing what the voters are saying.
Naturally, the people of Mississippi, the people of Alabama, we have never been extraordinarily trustful of D.C., but now we look at it almost with a degree of discomfort because we see the system and we think it is broken, Mr. McDaniel told The Washington Times. We think people like [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell are problematic. We think Congress as a whole being obstructionists is problematic. So the people of Alabama are awake. The people of Mississippi are awake, but more importantly, they are angry.
The results in Alabama, where Roy Moore, a former state Supreme Court chief justice, faces off against Democratic nominee Doug Jones, and Mr. McDaniels upcoming decision, are the latest tests for Stephen K. Bannon, who after leaving the White House over the summer has vowed to field challengers to Republican incumbents who dont join the Trump agenda.

On of the worst political take downs I ever saw was the GOP’s job on Chris McDaniel!!
Run Chris, run—and jam it to the GOPe !!!
Had not thought about him running again. But in the AZ race, the conservative, second-place challenger to McCain is also solidly ahead for the other Senate seat.
How many times has the GROPelite fought conservative/TEA Party primary winners?
Mississippi certainly last time.
Alabama this year.
Maryland - They fought and then abandoned the young woman who won the repubbie primary.
Kansas.
Alaska - MurKowski (?) got in as an “unofficial, wink-wink, nod nod” independent after losing the primary .
I would amend your statement. If Moore loses today, then that will be the worst takedown. It will show that the GOPe is willing to lose a seat to keep anyone but one of their own from being elected.
McDaniel got screwed by the GOPe last time he ran.
I hope he runs again and takes out Wicker, another undocumented Democrat in an R jersey.
Wicker should quit now and McDaniel appointed to his seat. Wickers old. To run for reelection would be going against the tide. Still can’t understand how they can’t recognize it. At 77 he should do something else. The good fight is against Trump?
Moore’s victory speech should include”I wouldn’t want my name to be Wicker. Or Hatch.”
We know that since they were voting for Hillary!
is old thad cochran still ticking
I’d say that Conservatives are “woke” and we are not going to allow McConnell, Rove, and Barber steal another seat through subterfuge. That day is over.
Having Moore and McDaniel in the Senate to replace Tweedledee and Tweedledum would be wonderful. And would make McConnell hide under his desk even more.
Courage is contageous... Winning is the result of Courage.
What has wicker done wrong?
We can only hope! If Bannon’s campaign for ‘18 comes to fruition, McConnell is going to have to spread his RNSC dollars pretty thin. Thad Cochran’s health (”UTI?” Really?) is becoming an issue and he’ll be much harder to defend.
>> At 77 he should do something else <<
Wicker is “only” 66.
I don’t agree. When you take down a guy like McDaniel who did nothing at all but run for office and has a clean record that is a much worse take down than today’s election in Alabama.
I might be tempted to travel for that one.
Best reason to vote for Moore...
OAN has just reported that Moore has won!
