An alliance of those who believe the French region of Corsica should have greater autonomy and those who want it to become fully independent have scored a resounding victory in last night’s election.
After winning in the first round of voting, yesterday’s final vote saw Pe a Corsica pick up 41 of 63 seats in the Assembly, receiving over 56% of the vote.
The movement is led by the pro-autonomy Gilles Simeoni and the pro-indy Jean-Guy Talamoni. Following the result, Simeoni said: “Paris today has to take stock of what is happening in Corsica.”

Apparently, there are 195 countries in the world today.
Personally, I think we would be better off if there were 1000 countries. Keep ‘em small, and weak, and focused on core features. A world of city-states would be fine with me.

Yeah, I’m in New England, and if the US had any brains, they’d kick my 6 states right out of the union. You all would be better off without us. Seriously. I’d have to try to move to America, but I could sneak over the NY border — or maybe come up through Mexico.

There are few and they aren’t tolerated. The Corsicans are into persevering the natural beauty of the island. They want as little as possible development. Next Sardinia should break away from Italy.

Part of their discontent is with France for putting “immigrants” on Corsica. They have had it with savages who don’t act like civilized beings.
I hope they separate from France.
