Journalists were rattled on Saturday after President Donald Trump called out a Washington Post reporter for tweeting a misleading picture of Trumps rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Friday night.
Weigel had tweeted a picture of Trumps rally that appeared to show an empty arena, but it was taken well before the rally got underway in front of a packed venue.
Weigel apologized in response to Trumps tweet, at which point the president declared victory and called on Weigel to be fired. Weigel, Trump tweeted, just admitted that his picture was a FAKE (fraud?) showing an almost empty arena last night for my speech in Pensacola when, in fact, he knew the arena was packed (as shown also on T.V.). FAKE NEWS, he should be fired.
Trumps tweets at Weigel appeared to rattle some members of the media, in part because the president included Weigels Twitter handle in his tweets.
By including Dave Weigels @ handle, the presidents statement is inviting followers to gang up on a reporter, CNNs Brian Stelter wrote.
Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffrey defended Weigel, calling him a great reporter.
The president calling for a journalist to be fired seems like a public threat to the First Amendment, wrote MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin.

Subtitled.
There are two places where you can watch them. viki.com and dramafever.com. It costs a few bucks a month.
The only thing worse than being a liberal is being an ugly liberal.
I posted to you in another thread. The Pensacola News Journal, in an article published on Friday, 12/8/17, before Weigel’s tweet, stated that the arena’s capacity was 12,000 and there was a capacity crowd with hundreds left waiting in line to get in as the doors were closed.
I tried to post the article in its own thread, but I got an error message, “Gannet”.

If a person looks around a bit he kind just about most everything online for free watching. I’m not much on drama, but I enjoyed this snippet of a performance of the tune “The Wind Blows” from “Chicago Typewriter”:

Go get ‘em Donald.
Weigel looks like Ron Jeremy’s younger brother.
“The president calling for a journalist to be fired seems like a public threat to the First Amendment”
The media doesn’t like having the tables turned on them. They were used to the idea of being able to pick and choose who they wanted to destroy.
When Rudy Giuliani became Mayor of New York City, there was a lot of resentment built up over the years from hard working New Yorkers who were sick of all the urban decay that was affecting their quality of life. Once these people saw that Giuliani had their backs, they were less afraid to speak their mind about all the graffiti, garbage, homeless people, lawlessness, etc.
The same principle applies to Trump and the media. Resentment towards the media has been growing for decades. All Trump had to do was harness it. Now the media has a bullseye on their backs, and they don’t like it.
When Trump says “that reporter should be fired”, what he’s really saying is “the media is a joke, and this reporter is just one more example”. And the media knows damn well that Trump’s goal is not to stifle a free press, but to destroy the reputation of a crooked press.
Info I saw says the pictures were taken BEFORE the event. This is CNN we’re talking about. It’s not like they have never reported FAKE NEWS before.
“Weigel looks like Ron Jeremys younger brother.”
Yeah, there’s definitely a resemblance. Wouldn’t be surprised if sooner or later some feminazi comes out with a rape accusation against him.
Yet not one word about obamas fake Greek columns.
“Weigel apologized in response to Trumps tweet...”
No, he didn’t. He issued a “sorry I got caught” statement.
Yea, it’s funny like Franken groping a sleeping woman. ;-)
Ick.......
Say it far and wide.
He needs some Doritos and Velveeta.
The President is calling for truth. Mis reporting, that is lying, about crowd size is a universally accepted tactic of the presstitutes.
Maybe they will be more careful now
(the publisher should be fired, not his minion acting under orders)
