Journalists were rattled on Saturday after President Donald Trump called out a Washington Post reporter for tweeting a misleading picture of Trump’s rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Friday night.
Weigel had tweeted a picture of Trump’s rally that appeared to show an empty arena, but it was taken well before the rally got underway in front of a packed venue.
Weigel apologized in response to Trump’s tweet, at which point the president declared victory and called on Weigel to be fired. Weigel, Trump tweeted, “just admitted that his picture was a FAKE (fraud?) showing an almost empty arena last night for my speech in Pensacola when, in fact, he knew the arena was packed (as shown also on T.V.). FAKE NEWS, he should be fired.”
Trump’s tweets at Weigel appeared to rattle some members of the media, in part because the president included Weigel’s Twitter handle in his tweets.
“By including Dave Weigel’s @ handle, the president’s statement is inviting followers to gang up on a reporter,” CNN’s Brian Stelter wrote.
Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffrey defended Weigel, calling him “a great reporter.”
“The president calling for a journalist to be fired seems like a public threat to the First Amendment,” wrote MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin.

That arena holds about 8000 for minor league hockey, and that is without floor seats because of the ice. So if it was filled up with floor seats also, I would guess the crowd to be around 9000. Just a guess.

For years, ‘journalists’ (and I use that term loosely) thought they could lie, guess, suppose and basically not report what happened for most of recorded time.
Now, in the information age, they are routinely found to be fake news, liars, and shown to be partisan. They should be rattled. Those fake news reporters, who are so used to doing what they do with impunity, should be fired and their companies should go out of business.
I will never accept one of their ‘oops, it was a mistake, I am human’ apologies. They have cried wolf entirely too many times to ever be believed again. Ever!

Yes, it is always fun to watch them pull the ‘it was just a joke’ card after being called out for their fake news.
This is the same excuse the late night talk show hosts use constantly to ‘cover’ their partisan comments.

I don’t need the official number of attendees. I’ve got eyes and an internet connection with RIght Side Broadcasting who makes a point to pan the crowd. The building was full. Who am I told to believe, MSM or my “lying eyes”?
You would hope that Trump is educating the establishment GOP on how to deal with the Democratic-allied mainstream media - there’s no way McCain or Romney would ever have even tried to dispute such lies about them. But I suspect most in the GOP will never get it - they just want Trump to go away so they can go back to groveling at the feet of people who despise them in the media and Hollywood.
SOOOOO a reporter can tell a Bold face LIE in the press and we have to Eat IT !
That is an Attack on the first Amendment. A reporter has the Responsibility to tell the TRUTH when reporting the news!!

A lot of people have forgotten how Dave Weigel was the Post’s “right-blogger” to Ezra Klein’s left-blogger. He was on Ezra Klein’s Journolist laughing about how he wasn’t conservative which is what made someone go public with the list from what I remember. The Post had to let him go for about a year then rehired him as an open liberal (i.e. a reporter)

Yep, KDramas are pretty much the only TV shows I watch these days, I don’t watch any Hollywood garbage.
