SAN FRANCISCO -- Giancarlo Stanton has ruled out the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals as teams he's willing to be traded.
The Giants announced Friday they were no longer in the mix to work out a trade for the Marlins slugger and National League MVP after having reached the parameters of a deal with new Miami CEO Derek Jeter and his team.
"Our agreement with the Marlins to acquire Giancarlo Stanton subject to his waiving of the no-trade clause will not move forward and it is our understanding that the Marlins and Stanton are exploring other options," the team said in a media release.
The Cardinals also said Stanton had declined to accept a deal to St. Louis...

This is the list that Jeter should have asked him for a month ago.
Thanks for the link.
Read yesterday that salary spot is being held by the Cubs for Bryce Harper next year.
They can hold it if they like. I don’t think Harper is going there. In fact,I don’t think he’s going anywhere. I think he wants to play his whole career in DC.
Given the Yankees’ commitment to getting under the $197 million luxury tax threshold, I don’t know how they fit Stanton in, especially in an outfield that already includes Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, Jacoby Ellsbury, Clint Frazier, and prospects Tyler Austin, Billy McKinney, Jake Cave, and others.
Both Stanton and Judge are rightfielders.
They don’t want a single player holding down the DH spot, so they can rotate various players through it.
As I understand it, both the Giants and Cardinals had the framework of trades in place with the Marlins. All they required was Stanton’s approval, which he ha now informed them he won’t give them.
I like Giancarlo. One of my favorite players. He’s one of the last breeds in sports: strong, masculine, responsible players.
Stanton will be a Yankee.
Right, doesn’t seem likely Yankees will pull the trigger with the talent they have on board, but with their recent shenanigans with Girardi and Boone, they are a wildcard.
Jeter and crew so far are coming off as screw ups, they fired one of the best broadcast teams in MLB for no apparent reason, (maybe Jeters wife/girlfriend had some say).
They fired Conine, Tony Perez, and Andre Dawson from their jobs with the club. Three smart baseball men. And a scout who is hospitalized.
You could be correct.
Dee Gordon was traded to the Mariners.
I want to see Loria behind bars.
Good luck season ticket sales.
They don’t need to call me anymore, no sale.
Conine, Perez, and Dawson ARE the legacy Marlins, and there is going to be payback.
Stanton and Harper in the same outfield. Wow.
Just as well for the Giants, at least. They need a lot more than one power hitter - they’ve been the worst team in baseball since the 2016 All Star game. They need to do the hard work of rebuilding an old club with young talent without publicity stunts like signing Stanton.
Loria sounds like Bob Nutting, owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, on steroids.
Owners like these two pigs are scum. In the case of Nutting, he takes taxpayer welfare that pays for the financing of the ballpark and MLB’s corporate welfare since the Pirates are “small market”, throws a “team” out on the field, and basically doesn’t spend a penny to improve the team. He collects the profits and invests the cash in his local ski resorts ... He’s a welfare recipient that invests his checks.
For 22 of the past 25 seasons, the Pirates have had a losing season. MLB needs to force a sale of that team and move it to another city. It’s disgusting seeing that pig wreck that team.
thank God for Norman Braman. He kept the billionaire who own the Dolphins from getting free taxpayer money.
Wow.
If I were him I’d jump at the chance to get away from this dysfunctional franchise and play for a quality organization like St. Louis.
He’d hit 75 HR’s a season, baseball glory trumps $$..
