When roles were more rigidly defined, women were largely protected from hostile workplaces by husbands, fathers and the community at large.

Here in MA, I would expect women to give two responses to this:

1) "I don't need your protection you pathetic worm!"
2) "You don't know what it's like being a woman and always being victimized in every situation by people who are bigger, and more powerful! Waaaaaaaaah!"

Pendulum has swung opposite direction. When was last time a woman casually laid her hand on ye olde wedding tackle or played footsie under the table? Same here. No wonder sex robots are flying off the shelves!
