Agree - and he doesn’t do anything without a good reason.

Not being a student of the middle east, what’s the greater goal behind this?

Present the Arabs with a done deal IOT spur the “peace” process forward. Also to stick it to the Deep State at Foggy Bottom (massive Federal bottom blow needed).

IMO, Israel eventually will have to force the Arabs back into Jordan & Egypt and declare a one-state solution for disputed territories.

I believe it may resolve an issue that was a roadblock to peace negotiations.

I know the West Bank and Gaza folks won’t see it that way, but that’s okay. They’ll have to come to terms with it.

Trump wouldn’t have done this without some consultation in the region.

Saudi Arabia and other nations may have been okay with this.

Support for a Saudi/Israel working relationship may have hinged on it.

IMO, we have a much better chance for a peace agreement under Trump, than ever before. I think he would work behind the scenes on this one, to make it look like a Middle-East based plan too. That would surprise some folks who always see him as a guy who wants credit.

Here, his name being involved would make folks react negatively without even looking at the plan.

He’s a clever guy.

My uneducated guess is that it takes away a PLO bargaining chip. Gives us more and we will let you recognize Jerusalem as Capital of Israel.

Of course they never intend to follow through but just want more concessions.

It is no longer on the table.

If I'm not mistaken this was actually approved politically well over 20 years ago.

Trump is the first President since then that was WILLING to act upon it.

In my view, Trump “blessing” the Palestinians etc is setting them up. By doing this, he will show how the Palestinians are unwilling to give up their position that Israel must be destroyed. They do not want peace. Besides having the guts to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol, he is laying groundwork for the defense of Israel against Iran and its puppets.

In the secular sense, I surmise this is Trump teaching the Arabs when you walk away from a good deal to hold out for a perfect deal, a shrewd negotiator starts withdrawing from even letting you have the good deal.
