Franken announcement Thursday, calls to resign

WASHINGTON (AP) — Facing growing demands for him to resign, Minnesota Sen. Al Franken will make an announcement on Thursday.

That's the word from the Democrat's office on Wednesday.

Franken's support among his fellow Democrats is collapsing as a host of female Democratic senators called upon him to quit.

Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Patty Murray, D-Wash., Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., all called on Franken to step down.

Don't forget that Trump actually came close to winning Minnesota. The last time a GOP presidential candidate actually did that was in Nixon's 49 state landslide of 1972. Although Reagan came even closer than Trump in 1984 . . . a shift of less than 3000 votes would've made it the first unanimous electoral college vote since George Washington.

Exactly, especially if its a nice clean fresh liberal who is not a former clown/comedian and who doesn’t have the personality of an a-hole. Mark Dayton will probably appoint a female (who won’t harass anyone) who is even more liberal and who can then run as the incumbent.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I want him to stay and be the butt of criticism for the next three years. Replacing him with another Democrat just gives the appointee a bully pulpit.
