ouTube is finally admitting it has a major problem — and robots won’t be able to fix it.
Google’s video-streaming service said it plans to hire more than 10,000 new employees next year in a scramble to clamp down on the offensive and inappropriate content that has been plaguing its site.
Last month, it was revealed that pedophiles have been posting disgusting comments to videos of scantily clad children. That was after an uproar earlier this year over YouTube videos promoting terrorism and racists leaders like David Duke that had caused big advertisers to flee.
“We need an approach that does a better job determining which channels and videos should be eligible for advertising,” YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki admitted in one of a pair of blog posts Monday.
The moves come as advertisers, regulators and advocacy groups express ongoing concern over whether YouTube’s policing of its service is sufficient.
YouTube has developed automated software to identify videos linked to extremism and now is aiming to do the same with clips that portray hate speech or are unsuitable for children. Uploaders whose videos are flagged by the software may be ineligible for generating ad revenue.
But amid stepped up enforcement, the company has received complaints from video uploaders that the software is error-prone.
“We’ve heard loud and clear from creators that we have to be more accurate when it comes to reviewing content, so we don’t demonetize videos by mistake,” she said.
In addition, Wojcicki said the company would take “aggressive action on comments, launching new comment moderation tools and in some cases shutting down comments altogether.”
Adding to the thousands of existing content reviewers will give YouTube more data to supply and possibly improve its machine learning software, she said.

On the other hand, I would expect kiddie porn like videos to be the product of some underground community that passes each other the links to such videos.
I suppose the ways to find the kiddie porn crap is to either pretend to be interested in it and infiltrate the underground community--which I hope law enforcement does. Or you have to have a way to distinguish that kind of video from others, which may be difficult to do automatically unless there is nudity that something analogous to facial recognition can pick up on....maybe it would be easier to track meta-data such as the text or if they track it, whether the people watching it tend to be those that have watched other such filth.
Bottom line is, policing videos is legitimate. There are things like kiddie porn and terrorist recruitment stuff that should be censored. Unfortunately with this duty comes the temptation to stretch the policy to include legitimate philosophical and political discourse that one does not agree with, and sadly Google has been giving into this temptation far too much lately.

I have never used the dirty word ‘liberal’, because it demeans a spineless human being with no convictions. I have and do use the words “Communist’, ‘Socialist’, and ‘queer’, with conviction.
I do use YouTube, and have years before, had some videos up, without the ad attachments.
The problem is Big Tech actively discriminating against Gab.AI, limiting its adoption, by blocking it from app stores.
Google already defers to AI quite a bit to censor content based on key terms and titles. And that’s aside from organized flagging/downvoting by liberal mobs or the systemic, multi-layered oppression of non-PC content.

They already canned ET Williams so he left Youtube. Is trying Pew Tube and Bit Chute. Others still at Youtube have accounts at Bit Chute like Stefan Molyneux. Vid Me is another option.
After losing the 2016 election - with most major networks blindly and constantly pushing Hillary - the elites quickly realized a free internet lost them the war of ideas. They won’t allow that to happen again.
They couldn’t have people watching YouTube clips of Hillary collapsing, or being caged in effigy wearing prison stripes in parades around the “real America”...
And yet they refuse to remove content aimed at children that is clearly inappropriate.
Elsagate is real.
Google, Amazon, and Facebook are monopolies and it must be broken up.
If we fail to do this they will control the internet and silence all conservative thought.
