A court in south central Vietnam on Thursday rejected jailed blogger Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynhs appeal of her 10-year prison sentence for publishing politically sensitive material online, prompting condemnation from watchdogs who called the hearing a farce and demanded her immediate release.
The Peoples Court of Khanh Hoa province, in Nha Trang city, took three hours to uphold the conviction of Quynhalso known by her blogger handle Me Nam, or Mother Mushroomwho was arrested Oct. 10, 2016 while on her way to visit a fellow rights campaigner in prison and sentenced in June to a decade in jail on charges of spreading propaganda against the state under Article 88 of Vietnams Penal Code.
Nguyen Kha Thanh, a lawyer defending the 37-year-old Quynh, told RFAs Vietnamese Service after the ruling that the closed door proceedings had been hasty and unsatisfactory.

In case anyone sees this late note, Vietnam is called a Stalinist regime, maybe like Cuba, that’s bad... but it’s not Cuba or even Chin. China’s prison system and oppression of free voices seems to be pretty bad.
I agree, but we have a substantial amount of our own citizens who have no clue about Freedom.
Whether they think the cops here are out gunning for black youths, or Trump “stole” the election from Hillary, or that keeping out terrorists is the same as prejudice against Muslims, the entire Left disagree that America is free.
Well, gospel is the thing that when widely believed, sparks Western ideas of civilization. Get evangelists in, and everything else will fall into order.
Gospel ideas of love made our copious freedom possible. Without that, iron and draconian rule is needed to keep some faction firmly on top so there can be coherent order.
