Pro-Doug Jones Super PAC Using Voter Intimidation Tactics — Ad Claims ‘Your Vote Is Public Record’

Highway 31, a Birmingham-based pro-Doug Jones super PAC is using what could be perceived as voter intimidation tactics against Roy Moore by suggesting the votes cast in a December 12 special election are “public record.”

Beginning last week, some Alabamians were posting on social media about encountering online pre-roll video advertising making such a claim.

In watching some youtube videos on Cash Cab there is an ad running for Doug Jones as follows: "Your vote is public record & your community will know if you voted to stop Roy Moore" @MooreSenate I will just leave this here. #VoteRoyMoore

Breitbart News has obtained two of those ads, both which taken by a resident in the Montgomery, AL designated market area.

At the end of each of those videos, the group Highway 31 claims responsibility for the ad and directs viewers to its website.

Little is known about the Highway 31 super PAC given that it has been intentionally set up in a manner that prevents the public from discovering who is funding it.

Not here in Alabama. The voting is by scantron (fill in bubble or complete the arrow with ink pen) and the machine scans and tabulates the vote to a paper print out. There is no number assigned to the physical ballot before or after you feed into the machine when you finish voting.

When you show up at the polling station, you present a valid photo ID, your name and address are cross referenced with the voter roll. The poll worker writes your name in a log book (line X, page X) where you sign next to your name. Now there are people who got there before you who may finish voting after you just like there are people who come in behind you who may finish before you. There is no way to track who votes for who.

Every single ad put out by this highway 31 group is “ voter intimidation”. There are ones they aired that make it sound as if Moore will reinstate jim crow laws and order police to gun down blacks if he’s elected.

It appears that the jones campaign and their attack dogs @ highway 31 are under investigation by the state of Alabama for possible voter intimidation:

Uh; hold on there a ding-dang minute, Partner!!

Your party affiliation and whether you voted are recorded.

If they want to ASSUME that you ACTUALLY voted a straight line ticket; then...

...but how many people actually DO that?

How many cross over; how many fail to vote for the smaller offices; how many just plain have switched parties and NO ONE knows about it?

So many variables to take into account that it ALL becomes speculation: until the votes accounted.
