Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCares individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step forward toward ending an unpopular part of the healthcare law.
Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them not the government, Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.

I hate to say this but they should make the house version match the senate version so that another vote in the senate isn’t needed. I think McCain will find a reason to say no if they have to vote again.
Agreed
The media will portray that as denying healthcare [insurance] to millions.
The government had no right to force people to buy health insurance and to pay higher premiums to subsidize the “poor”. bammycare was invalid from the start. The supreme court high jerk john roberts gave an invalid opinion about the individual mandate.
Fake news looses more and more influence every day.
FL , NC , GA and TN could be destroyed .
This could be the real results the Gop never planned on .
My brother lives in Florida. He said the Puerto Rican invasion is going to do that. He said the airports have welcome centers for the Puerto Ricans to sign them up for all of their freebies.
Big victory for freedom!
When the dems have a majority, it is the Senate or House that does something. When GOP has majority media always says GOP did it in order to somehow make it illegitimate.
A bit of schadenfreude involved .... the Dems had their panties in a wad that this was a TAX bill and the Obamacare mandate shouldn’t be part of it .... until they were reminded that Judge Roberts ruled the “[s]hared responsibility payment” under the Affordable Care Act is a “tax” and not a “penalty” so as to twist the unconstitutional into something that could be forced down America’s throat. Roberts ruling finally came back to bite the Dems & the ACA in the butt.
I fear this tax law will flood Red states with Yankee Dem invaders and turn red states purple or blue .

That’s a valid concern. Waves of northern Boomers who are retiring are looking to move to states with higher temperatures and lower taxes. And some who are too young to retire will simply leave just to avoid the oppressive tax burdens in the northern states. Unfortunately, the liberals migrating south will bring their ideologies with them like a disease that will infect their new home states.
Yes. I think you’re right.
The consequences of the tax bill on FL , GA , TN , NC and even AZ and ID will be a huge blow to these conservative states
‘It's shocking and the local left wing media is cheer leading it .
Agree...the House will pass just about anything, including this. So give it an up or down vote. Have it pass, and then it’s on Trump’s desk!
Inevitably what Congress enacts has one, single purpose . . . to get re-elected. Or put another way, to avoid failing to get re-elected. It’s that simple. The only variable to their overriding motivation to remaining in office after the coming election (2018) and the extent to which current members fall victim to this is going to be the inappropriate sexual behavior that is growing by the day. Additionally, unauthorized of government funds to buy silence from victims and how they managed to abscond with millions of dollars to accomplish the same end.
There’s always the free rider problem. I have no moral or practical issue with forcing people who can afford to take care of their health not to shift the financing burden on the public.
I notice among many here the lazy and unfounded assumption that poor people are the biggest moochers off taxpayers. In real life, that’s from the middle class benefiting from every government program.
If you’re really against handouts start with them and insist they pay their fair share of the health care costs.
It will be interesting to see what the northern states do when their tax base totally dries up and state finances implode. They will have to do something, out of necessity, to make their profligate states more attractive places to work and live in. A day of reckoning is fast approaching.

They will just raise taxes as needed to keep up with the drain. Works for illannoy.
At some point there will be an exodus of the Makers and Producers, leaving only the Takers and Losers who pay no taxes. This is an untenable situation that cannot go on indefinitely.
As Margaret Thatcher famously said “eventually you run out of other people’s money”.
