Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy said he will support 5th Circuit Court of Appeals nominee Kyle Duncan, amid mounting criticism of Kennedy's hesitation from conservatives in his home state and Washington.
The Republican leveraged longstanding Senate traditions to slow Duncan's nomination to the federal appeals court based in New Orleans. He cited concerns with the nomination process leading to Duncan's selection and the paperwork submitted to Congress regarding the nomination as prompting his hesitation.
The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Duncan's nomination Wednesday, where Kennedy vocalized his grievances.
Influential conservatives responded immediately by questioning his loyalty to "President Trump or [to] liberal special interest groups in Washington." Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, appearing on Family Research Council president Tony Perkins' radio program on Wednesday evening, called Kennedy's actions "troubling."
Perkins, a former Louisiana congressman and head of the prominent social conservative lobbying group in Washington said on-air, "I will tell you as a Louisianan, I don't think he is representing us well."
One day later, Kennedy announced his intent to support Duncan in a statement to The Advocate in Baton Rouge Thursday night.

He said some nasty things. Wanted sex with a leftie?
Bol. What an image.
It looks like the patience of both GOP and conservative voters has finally run out. It took long enough.
Not so much a RHINO as a snowflake fighting for relevance. He got his delicate Senatorial feathers ruffled and now he has a boo boo that needs loving’. What a baby.
I first learned about Mr. Duncans nomination when I received a phone call, actually a series of phone calls, from Mr. Don McGahn, who is White House counsel. And Mr. McGahn was very firm that Mr. Duncan would be the nominee to the point that he was on the scarce side in one conversation of being polite. I want to give Mr. McGahn full credit, he came back later and apologized, but his firmness he did not relent on.
The POS isnt smart enough to think for himself......he should resign
Is Kennedy the best Louisana can do?
I had hope for him.
He joins the list.
Alexander, Corker, Flake, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Gardner, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Kennedy, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst, Lankford, Young, Boozman and Shelby are all undocumented Democrats in R jerseys.
Kennedy may have learned that Steve Bannon knows some folks who could readily replace Kennedy should Kennedys aberrant behavior continue. I dont know WTF Kennedy was thinking.
WTF? We here in the swamp we voted 96% to reject Trump. And a lot of that 4% can be explained by voters not knowing how to read [a ballot].
Other than the odd think tanker, and the odd FR crackpot we don't do conservative here in DC.
Hes a pretty good republican with lots of common sense. Wonder whats going on?
While Trump is doing good things for conservatism, he’s not a conservative. We knew that going in. So Mr. Kennedy questioning him doesn’t bother me, but I’m glad he’s come around.
What happens to these guys when they get to DC?
Any relation?
No,fairly common name.
That sounds like 'never trumper' nonsense.
Someone got recalibrated.
All the boy needed was a swift kick in the ash to set his mind straight and it worked.
