In the last 16 months, Kaepernicks truth has been twisted, distorted and used for political gain. It has cost him at least a year of his NFL career and the income that should have come with it. But still, it is his truth. He has not wavered from it. He does not regret speaking it. He has caused millions of people to examine it. And, quietly, he has donated nearly a million dollars to support it.
For all those reasonsfor his steadfastness in the fight for social justice, for his adherence to his beliefs no matter the costColin Kaepernick is the recipient of the 2017 Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award. Each year SI and the Ali family honor a figure who embodies the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and philanthropy and has used sports as a platform for changing the world. I am proud to be able to present this to Colin for his passionate defense of social justice and civil rights for all people, says Lonnie Ali, Muhammads widow. Like Muhammad, Colin is a man who stands on his convictions with confidence and courage, undaunted by the personal sacrifices he has had to make to have his message heard. And he has used his celebrity and philanthropy to the benefit of some of our most vulnerable community members.

You wear a Che t-shirt to a press conference talking about oppression. No, we didn’t distort the truth. It was on his shirt for all to see.
I think the average readership of SI is now about 68 years of age. Hopefully, this will cost them the couple hundred subscribers they have left.

Very appropriate. Kaepernick is every bit the chump that Cassius Clay was.
CK has much more value as a martyr than as an NFL quarterback.
Brand after brand sacrificed on the alter of political correctness.
Future business students will be astounded.
SI was lost a long time ago. An award honoring a draft dodging muslim.
I bet Michael Sam would love Kaepernick on his knees.
Just deleted SI.com from my bookmarks.
Won’t miss them at all.
Bill ORileys next book should be Killing NFL
SI is joining ESPN in circling the bowl.

The game started off at 7:30 PM in Arlington and thousands of seats were still available well into the first quarter.

How many MBA thesis and PHD BusAdm thesis’s will be written about how Colin Cancer and his fellow NFL thugs killed the National Felon League?
The next SI swimsuit issue will have Colin on the cover in a thong to appeal to the LGBTQ crowd whose “truth” they want to shower awards on.
Colin's days and effective NFL quarterback were over a year before his oppression bs.
To show what a dim bulb Cassius Clay was he adopted the name of the maniac whose followers were selling the slaves in Africa.
no wonder SI circulation is collapsing ...
In other news, Sports Illustrated renamed the “Muhammad Ali Legacy Award” to the “Michael Brown Legacy Award”...
