Rudy isn’t going to be named to any major post in this administration. It’s not 1995 or 2000 anymore. He has slowed down and faded quite a bit over the last 15 years.

The one big advantage in naming a U.S. Senator to a post like this is that he's guaranteed to pass smoothly through a Senate confirmation process.
It's actually pathetic that this sort of thing comes into play in these decisions.

Whatever the problem, I hope he gets someone who understands that when the president says, `Jump’ their only question is, `How high?’ Tired of guys who seem to think they are independent contractors. He’s a bulldog and will straighten things out.
The coming year is going to surprise us all. My own congressman, I have noticed, has gone from coy to strong support for President Trump.
We’re hard right here, but the president has to balance his approach to the middle. Yeah, the wheel-spinning is frustrating, but 2018 will separate the sheep from the goats. The same voters in 30 states who elected him IMHO are more politically savvy than given credit.
